UEFA Champions League Best XI

UEFA Best PlayersArgentina's Lionel Messi (FC Barcelona), Colombian Radamel Falcao (Atlético Madrid) and Uruguay's Edinson Cavani (Napoli) are part of the list of 40 players who aspire to enter the club Best XI of the UEFA this year.

The agency announced Tuesday applicants and the list of finalists include other Latin American players like Thiago Silva (Paris Saint-Germain, formerly of Milan) and Argentine Javier Mascherano (Barcelona) and Sergio Aguero (Manchester City).

Twelve players were selected by line (defense, midfield and forward), except among the goalkeepers, where there are only four candidates.

Latin Americans are especially present in the attack, with Messi, Falcao, Cavani and Aguero.


The first, named best player in the world by the International Federation (FIFA) in the last three years and a candidate for fourth prize, to be delivered on January 7 in Zurich, is certainly among the eleven best, while the rest will tough competition with the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid), Dutchman Robin Van Persie (ex Manchester United and Arsenal) and Swedish Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Paris Saint-Germain and former AC Milan), among others.

In the list notified by the UEFA also are nine Spanish players: goalkeeper Iker Casillas (Real Madrid), defenders Jordi Alba (Barcelona), Gerard Piqué (Barcelona) and Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), and midfielders Xabi Alonso (Real Madrid), Andres Iniesta (Barcelona), Juan Mata (Chelsea), David Silva (Manchester City) and Xavi Hernandez (Barcelona).

Will the fans through the official website of UEFA, who elect the eleven winners and also determining the gameplay of this 'Dream Team' of European football, between five possible (4-4-2 , 3-5-2, 3-4-4, 4-3-3 and 5-3-2).
