Football fans who were expecting Great Britain to crush Senegal in yesterday’s game were very surprised to see a Senegal team determined to rain on their parade. And they did. The beginning of the Olympic football tournament for both teams resulted in a 1-1 draw.
Hoping to advance to the knockout stage, both teams who now have one point each, must work on building a positive result against their next contenders. Senegal will be facing Uruguay and Great Britain will be going against United
Arab Emirates. At this moment Uruguay is leading the position table of the group after they beat the United Arab Emirates 2-1.
Although they stood as the underdog since the match was announced and pretty much for the Olympic football betting tournament itself, it did not take long for fans and handicappers to see that Senegal would prove them wrong and they have their mind set on winning and reflected that in the strength of their game.
On their next couple of games against Uruguay and the United Arab Emirates, Senegal will have to repeat what they did yesterday and attempt to win at the very least one of those games to be able to advance any further. However, after yesterday’s showdown they proved that they will not be taken down easily and that they should not have been underestimated even if they don’t win.
On the contrary, Great Britain will have to better their physical assets on the next games. From the beginning of the game against Senegal they were worn out and pounded by a very strong Senegal Team. They will also need to improve their ball possession.
Great Britain could have won this match considering a called and converted penalty; however, the final score was fair not only for Great Britain but mainly for Senegal. They surprised the fans and their opponent and carried out a magnificent game and deserved that draw in the final score. For long moments during the game, Senegal was the better team in the field.
Now that Senegal knows what they are capable of achieving and Great Britain understands and accepts what they missed during this game they will have to work around that with tactic and intelligence if they want to catch up to Uruguay and knock them off the first position that they currently hold.
