Jon Jones UFC PredictionsAs Jon Jones figure is exaggerated with each of their victories, are scarce or almost zero viable opponents to challenge the scepter of the young champion. The Swede Alexander Gustafsson is one of those rivals who loom as potential title contenders, provided they manage to overcome their next opponent, Mauricio Rua ¨ ¨ Shogun, another of the running for the title fight.

Comparisons between Swedish and 205lbs champion are inevitable. With similar physical characteristics, both have a considerable advantage in reach over most of his colleagues in the category of semicompletos.

Born in 1987, Jones and Gustafsson are the torchbearers of the new guard of sport. The big difference between these two talents lies in the level of competition they have faced each other.

Jones is a champion consolidated with four defenses to his credit, with wins over names like Mauricio Rua, Quinton Jackson, Lyoto Machida, Rashad Evans and Vitor Belfort. The Greg Jackson pupil is on track to be one of the best pound for pound historical competitors of Mixed Martial Arts.

Gustafsson has not faced the caliber of opponents and on December 8 will have his first match against a top 5 of the division. Gustafsson at UFC debuted with an exclamation point by knocking with a straight right to Jared Hamman at UFC 105. Hamman came out determined to close the gap and push the debutante that night in Manchester, which turned out to be a huge mistake against a counterpuncher born as Gustafsson.

The second test in the UFC betting was a rude awakening for the Swede. Despite displaying a remarkable defensive wrestling, Gustafsson fell into the web of his opponent, Phil Davis, who turned in a fight this duel based rough grappling. Davis, pressured his opponent against the cage and when finally completed on demolition, closed a loophole left anaconda not to leak. But after that defeat Gustafsson their next five opponents to reach the lawsuit Dec. 8 in the best shape of his career.

Jon Jones is looking forward to the opportunity to fight Gustafsson, someone who considers a future contender: Gustafsson ¨ I think is great. I can not wait to face him. Many people believe that the reason we won is because of my long arms. When I fought him I will not have that advantage. I can not wait to silence critics ¨ said Jones.

If this fight materialize, Jones will try to emulate what was done by Davis, imposing their superiority in wrestling, shortening the distance, working in the clinch with dirty boxing and break down when possible. The wrestling is still the weakest point of the Swedish, especially on offense. The Mauler ¨ ¨ often frustrate his opponents with the movement, using exhaust angles to perfection, showing sum ductility to attack retreating. Managing distance and timing are perfect, almost a reflection of the champion in both categories.

The race for the spot as the No. 1 contender semicompletos is more prickly than ever and it is all due to the great debacle caused by the cancellation of UFC 151. Chael Sonnen, earned the spot as the next opponent show champion willing to fight Jones at the last minute to replace the injured Dan Henderson, in what was an unsuccessful attempt to save the event. Jones flatly rejected the possibility to face former title challenger of 185lbs with only 8 days in advance.

Now will finally faces as rival coaches on the next season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) culminating in the confrontation between the two on April 27.

On the other side of the table shows Henderson and Machida, who could see their faces at the beginning of the year. Henderson, who was left out of the title shot due to injury, will face Brazil, leaving behind a year of inactivity. Machida, who discarded the title fight against Jones at UFC 152 citing little preparation time, is history last victory over Ryan Bader. Lyoto expected a win place it on the door of a title already had in their possession.

The picture is still fuzzy and the options being considered are multiple. Recall that Dana White's dream is to realize the showdown between Anderson Silva and Jon Jones, a fighter that can stop waiting for any other heavyweight contender with status.

Uncertainty is what reigns today at 205lbs, however any of these names promise big fights including us winners.
