The Swiss qualified by beating Serbian Novak Djokovic in straight sets 6-1 6-4, while the Spanish had defeated Britain's Andy Murray before in a game full of suspense, disputadísimos in three sets, 7-6 (7 / 5), 3-6, 7-6 (8 / 6). The final showdown will be the number 22 between the top two players in the world, but be the first time you see in the final match of the Masters, a tournament they have met twice, both in the semifinals with wins of Federer in 2006 and 2007. The Spaniard is 14-7 lead in their duels with the Swiss, which however has never won in the room. Nadal looks great the only trophy missing from his resume, while Federer wants to match Pete Sampras' record fifth title at the tournament.
