Roger Federer on Sunday began their conquest of the season-ending Masters in London with a comfortable victory over Spanish David Ferrer, 6-1, 6-4, so had a quiet debut entrains and their place in the semi-finals tournament.
In the first twenty minutes of play, Federer had his service broken twice rival and Ferrer had made clear that it would be very difficult to avoid another defeat to former world number as in the ten previous confrontations.
The Alicante, one of the last to seal their passage to the Masters, made too many unforced errors before a near-perfect Federer in the first round, he fell on his side 6-1.
In the second, Ferrer improved and took some relaxation of his rival to put in more trouble.
