 The number two in the world, Tiger Woods began his title defense at the Masters of Australia odds, now in Melbourne after defeating the first day of the tournament.
Woods carded a 69 strokes, two under par, and finished the first day in position 17, following of three birdies and a bogey.
The American, 34, is in Australia in search of victory in the last tournament he won last year before the scandal broke their extramarital relationships, which led to even a temporary withdrawal from the competition.
"It could easily have been four, five or six under par, but I'm there, I'm only four (strokes) of the head," said Woods.
The course par is 71 and Woods was two strokes lower.

Andy Roddick Qualify in the Finals of the ATP Tour |

 The eighth-seeded Andy Roddick reached the third round today at the Paris Masters and took a big step to qualify in the finals of the ATP tour, beating 6-1 6-4 to Jarkko Nieminen.
Roddick never seemed in trouble with the Finnish and did not face a single break point to break his opponent's serve three times.
Only the top eight players will qualify for the Masters Cup in London from 21 to 28 November.
Roddick, U.S., is in eighth place ranquin and achieve a place in the tournament that ends the year unless the Spanish Fernando Verdasco to reach the final in Paris or Jurgen Melzer to win the tournament.
