NHL Playoffs Odds and Free PicksOnline Sports Betting Overview

As the online betting on Kentucky Derby odds heats up, so does the Eastern Conference quarterfinals series between the Buffalo Sabres and the Philadelphia Flyers. The NHL hockey news on this series has seen a lot of interesting headlines. The Flyers are on their third starting goaltender in this series, and no one is sure who will start in net for Philadelphia in game seven. But the price per head Flyers fans are confident that the team will be resilient enough to pull off the win in this game seven and move on to the next round of the playoffs.

The Buffalo Sabres would like to skip the second periods in these playoff games and get right to the last five minutes of the third period. The Sabres have come out strong in every game in this series, but have given up sizeable leads in the second period on almost every occasion. In game five, the Sabres gave up a 3-0 first period lead but battled it out to win in overtime. In game six, the Sabres gave up a 3-1 lead and eventually lost that game in overtime.

The Sabres’ poor defensive play in the regular season is starting to haunt them in the playoffs. If Buffalo cannot find a way to put together a 60-minute effort in game seven, then the playoffs will be over for the Sabres.

Philadelphia Flyers
Danny Briere has been both the goat and the hero in this series. In game four, Briere found himself all alone in front of Buffalo goaltender Ryan Miller, but could not put the puck past the Sabres goalie. But, for the series, Briere has scored five goals, and many of them have been key tallies. Flyers winger Claude Giroux has six assists in this series, and has been a key element in pestering the Sabres’ goaltender. But when the Sabres put forth a complete effort, the Flyers appear to be no match for Buffalo. The Flyers have cycled three goalies in and out of the net in this series, but the Sabres have been unable to get sustained pressure on any of the Philadelphia goalies to test them. If the Sabres make an offensive push in game seven, it could mean trouble for Philadelphia.

Buffalo Sabres
The Buffalo Sabres have been using a very dangerous game plan in this series. As soon as the Sabres get a lead in a game, they try to sit on that lead until the game is over. The results have been that the Sabres have given up games that they should have won. The Buffalo defense has been routinely collapsing into the lap of Ryan Miller and giving up too many good scoring chances. The Sabres played a grinding game in game one of this series and won 1-0. They will need a similar effort to win game seven. But if the last three or four games are any indication, the Sabres could be in for a long night in Philadelphia.

The Bottom Line
The Sabres are a more skilled team than the Flyers, but the Sabres are unable to sustain a high level of play for a full game. If the Sabres continue to fall back into their own zone after taking a lead, then they will lose this game.
