NHL Stanley Cup OddsThe online sportsbooks review love underdogs because the underdogs always pay more when they come through. The ultimate underdog bet for these Stanley Cup playoffs prior to the playoffs starting would have been the Los Angeles Kings. The eighth seed in the Western Conference is now headed for the Western Conference finals and a possible berth in the Stanley Cup finals. The Kings look strong and look like they could be a contender for the Cup championship.

But the sports betting experts no longer have the Kings as an underdog pick in the Stanley Cup finals. Because of the Kings' play in the first two rounds of the playoffs, Los Angeles has become the favorite to win the Western Conference and represent the conference in the Stanley Cup finals. That means that everyone needs a new underdog. At this point in the playoffs, it can be hard to find an underdog team that can win it all. But there is one bet you can make which may pay off when the Stanley Cup is being handed out.

The Washington Capitals have been given 15 to 1 odds to win the Stanley Cup by the price per head sports experts. If the Capitals can eliminate the top seeded New York Rangers in the second round of the playoffs, then the Capitals may become the odds-on favorites to win it all in the east. Before that happens, you need to take advantage of the odds that the Capitals have now before Washington is no longer considered to be an underdog.

The chances that the Capitals will get past the Rangers are actually very good. The thing that the Capitals have that the Ottawa Senators did not have is consistent scoring. It also helps that the Capitals have one of the hottest goalies in the league in the nets. A 5 dimes review of the job that rookie goaltender Braden Holtby has done shows that he has a future in the NHL. Holtby has been steady in net for Washington and has leveled the playing field in net for the Capitals with the Rangers. This will be an interesting challenge for the Rangers and the Capitals could very well knock the Rangers out of the playoffs.

The NHL scores that the Capitals have been posting show that the Caps are able to lose close games and then bounce back the next night. That is an extremely important characteristic for a playoff team.

When you look at the Washington roster, you see players that can score goals and play tough defense. Adding in the element of a strong goaltender like Braden Holtby only enhances the Capitals' chances of winning the Stanley Cup. In a season where the Capitals limped into the playoffs, Washington looks like a stronger contender than it has ever been. If you want to take an underdog bet that could win the Stanley Cup this year, then go with the Washington Capitals.
