NHL Playoff bettingOnline Sportsbook Overview
In the minds of many sports betting online experts, the Stanley Cup is all but ready to be displayed at Madison Square Garden this year. The Rangers have it all when it comes to championship components. It has great goaltending from Henrik Lundqvist, balanced scoring and a tenacious defense. The Rangers also have fate on its side. The last time that the New York Rangers finished first in the Eastern Conference was in the 1993-1994 season. That also happened to be the year that captain Mark Messier lead the Rangers to its last Stanley Cup championship.

The Ottawa Senators have had a checkered playoff past since the team was resurrected for the 1992-1993 season. The Senators franchise knows what it is like to finish first in the Eastern Conference, and many of the current Senators’ players were on that team which last won the conference in 2005-2006. The Senators have also played the role of the eighth seed that went in and took a series from the top team in the Eastern Conference. But most topbetting lines sports experts do not see any of those winning qualities in this version of the Ottawa Senators.

New York Rangers

The Rangers play well at home and on the road. The team has a way of grinding opponents down and then walking away with the win. The Rangers watched how the Boston Bruins won the Stanley Cup last season and have taken that model and ran with it. The Rangers have the same kind of strong goaltending, powerful forwards and punishing defensemen that pushed the Boston Bruins to a title last year. A sportsbook review of the Rangers’ organization shows that the team has one thing that the Bruins did not have last year. The Rangers have fiery head coach John Tortorella, whose ability to motivate could be a factor as the playoffs roll on.

Ottawa Senators

The Senators made the playoffs despite having some of the worst goaltending in the Eastern Conference. No playoff team from either conference has allowed more goals against this season than Ottawa. The Senators do not have a solid number one goaltender and it does not have goalies that are good enough to cycle back and forth like the St. Louis Blues. The Senators made the playoffs with its offense, but it will bow out because of its goaltending.

The Bottom Line

The NHL betting odds and standings can sometimes be deceiving. The Ottawa Senators were a team that kind of fell into a playoff spot despite its best efforts to fall out of the playoff race. The New York Rangers are the dominant team in the Eastern Conference, and there does not appear to be any Ottawa miracle coming up in these playoffs. The Rangers should be able to dominate every game in this series from the very beginning. Once the Senators start switching out goaltenders, that should be a sign that Ottawa fans can start to leave the building.
