Carolina Hurricanes vs. New Jersey Devils OddsOnline Sports Betting Overview

Ever since the Super Bowl betting started and Jacques Lemaire took over as New Jersey Devils head coach, the NHL scores have been going the Devils’ way. The pay per head sportsbook experts are not going to give the Devils so much credit as to say they can make the playoffs, but Lemaire may have just bought himself a permanent invitation to be the head coach in New Jersey.

The Carolina Hurricanes have climbed into an eighth place tie with the Atlanta Thrashers in the Eastern Conference standings. It was not too long ago that the Hurricanes looked like they were not going to get the push they needed to make it into the playoffs, but with some great play by goalie Cam Ward and timely goal scoring, the Canes are battling for their playoff lives.

Carolina Hurricanes
The Hurricanes have made drastic improvements to their home and road records in the past couple of months. They are now one of the top Eastern Conference home teams with a 14-9-2 home record. On the road, Carolina has raised its record to 12-12-4. The Hurricanes are 5-5-0 in their last 10 games, and they have raised their season goal differential to -5.

NHL Finals Betting Odds and StatsAs the Stanley Cup betting and the World Cup betting continue to heat up, we can look at the three teams that made the 2010 NHL playoffs that made a surprising run and how they can keep that momentum going. The Chicago Blackhawks leading the way in the NHL betting this season was not a surprise, but there were three teams this year that surprised us all and have the potential to surprise everyone next year as well.

Nashville Predators

The Nashville Predators did not have the best season of their history in 2009-2010. Their 100 regular season points is only third best in the team’s history, but the future can look bright for this southern expansion team.

The Predators are being forged in steel as they are in the same division as the Detroit Red Wings and the Chicago Blackhawks. The team finished third in the division and seventh in the conference. The Predators were knocked out in six games by the Blackhawks in the first round of the playoffs. So why is the future so bright for the Predators?

Hockey Betting OddsThe highly anticipated National Hockey League playoffs get underway Wednesday night, and while the same two teams have made the online sportsbook Stanley Cup finals in each of the past two seasons, this year may mark a change at the top.

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings represented their conferences in the Stanley Cup finals in both 2008 and 2009, but the 2010 season has been different for both teams. While the Penguins defense has been suspect for most of the season, and the team has missed the output it got from center Evgeni Malkin just one year ago, the Red Wings struggled near the final playoff spot in the west before making a late surge down the stretch to reach 100 points for the tenth consecutive season and finish fifth. While Detroit should be able to get by surprising Phoenix in the first round, the Penguins will have a much tougher NHL odds task taking on the Senators. Even should both teams reach the conference semi-finals, this year will mark a much tougher road to the finals.
