NHL Playoffs Odds and Free PicksOnline Sports Betting Overview

As the online betting on Kentucky Derby odds heats up, so does the Eastern Conference quarterfinals series between the Buffalo Sabres and the Philadelphia Flyers. The NHL hockey news on this series has seen a lot of interesting headlines. The Flyers are on their third starting goaltender in this series, and no one is sure who will start in net for Philadelphia in game seven. But the price per head Flyers fans are confident that the team will be resilient enough to pull off the win in this game seven and move on to the next round of the playoffs.

The Buffalo Sabres would like to skip the second periods in these playoff games and get right to the last five minutes of the third period. The Sabres have come out strong in every game in this series, but have given up sizeable leads in the second period on almost every occasion. In game five, the Sabres gave up a 3-0 first period lead but battled it out to win in overtime. In game six, the Sabres gave up a 3-1 lead and eventually lost that game in overtime.

NHL Playoff Preview: Western Conference Quarterfinals Game Three: Sharks vs. Kings

San Jose Sharks vs. Los Angeles Kings OddsBetting Online Overview

The San Jose Sharks are still trying to figure out what hit them in game two of this series when the Los Angeles Kings won 4-0. The MLB baseball betting has been put on hold in Los Angeles while the Kings show some much-needed aggression against a more talented San Jose team. What happened to the Sharks in game two is that none of their star players produced at all. Antti Niemi was awful in goal, Joe Thornton only had one shot on goal and Patrick Marleau logged almost 20 minutes of ice time with no results. In order for the Sharks to win, their big players need to play well. When the Sharks’ top talent falls on its collective face, you get results like game two.

For the Los Angeles Kings, they finally had some players step up and fill in the gap left behind by the injured Anze Kopitar. Drew Doughty, a defenseman who is known for his scoring touch, finally came to life with two goals and two assists in this game.

Phoenix Coyotes vs. Detroit Red Wings OddsMLB betting in Arizona is pretty popular right now with the Arizona Diamondbacks off to a good start in the MLB regular season, but the NHL news in Phoenix is pretty good too. After a shaky start to the regular season, the Phoenix Coyotes were able to finish in sixth place in the Western Conference, and have earned a playoff round against the third place Detroit Red Wings. The Coyotes had a lot of promise entering the 2010-2011 season, considering their strong finish to last year’s regular season. But a 5dimes review of last year’s playoffs shows that it was the Red Wings that knocked the Coyotes out of the playoffs in the first round. Now, the two teams meet again in the first round of the playoffs to see if Phoenix can get some revenge for last year.

Phoenix Coyotes
The key to the Phoenix Coyotes’ success is goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov. He has been one of the team’s leaders for years, and he is the player that Phoenix built a playoff contender around last season. Bryzgalov had another excellent season posting 36 wins, seven shutouts, a .921 save percentage and a 2.48 goals against average.

NHL Betting Preview for Tuesday April 5, 2011: Washington Capitals vs. Toronto Maple Leafs

Washington Capitals vs. Toronto Maple Leafs PicksOnline Sports Betting Overview

If the New York Rangers and Buffalo Sabres each win their next games, and the Toronto Maple Leafs lose to the Washington Capitals, then the Leafs are out of the playoffs. Just like picking the winner in the 2011 March Madness betting, this adds a lot of drama to this game. NHL fans know that the Leafs’ chances of making the playoffs are very slim, but Toronto is not out of it yet and that is plenty of reason to continue to play as hard as they possibly can.

The Washington Capitals are in a battle with the Philadelphia Flyers for tops in the Eastern Conference NHL standings. The Capitals had a bit of a scare when they had to win in overtime against the Buffalo Sabres, but the Capitals are focused on winning and not necessarily being the best team for the regular season. The top spot in the Eastern Conference means home-ice advantage throughout the Eastern Conference playoffs. With a 24-8-8 home record, it makes sense for the Capitals to play hard to be at home for the majority of the playoffs.
