Steve Spagnuolo has been fired after only one season on the jobSean Payton is wasting no time to return to work.

Only a day after returning to his post as head coach of the New Orleans Saints, the team announced that defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo has been fired after only one season on the job. The team also said it would lay the secondary coach Ken Flajole.

"I personally want to thank Steve and Ken for their contributions during what was an unprecedented 2012 season," Payton said in a statement released by the Saints. "Philosophically we are changing our defense to a 3-4 alignment and right now is the best time to carry out this transition."

The change "philosophy" is a polite way of saying that the marriage was a failure Spagnuolo. The Saints' defense went from bad to worse after Gregg Williams left, but improved their level at the end of the season. Payton alluded to the many defensive problems when he spoke with reporters.

It is inevitable that this had something to do with personal relationships within the building Spagnuolo. An anonymous player strongly criticized Saints Spagnuolo after the season, saying he was a liar who should be fired ..

"If you have the personality of a good person, but he is a control freak and treats people like crap," said the player. "He has no patience and zero personality. He was irritating to our defensive players and coaches with how things said and did. "

Spagnuolo's defensive schemes did not help much to the Saints, but the talent is still the biggest problem. Their pass rush and his group of outside linebackers could be the worst in the NFL.

This movement is more about Payton's Saints take control again. The coach really does not like how I handle things Spagnuolo as he was not present.
