Packers vs. Bears 2019 NFL Week 1 Odds and Analysis

NFL betting odds and predictionsThe Chicago Bears are four-point home faves over the Green Bay Packers, according to unibet betting site. The two mythic franchises will meet for the 199th time to kick off the NFL’s 100th season. Both teams are, however, a far cry from their glory days. In 2017-18, the Packers had their first back-to-back losing seasons since 1990-91. And missed the playoffs in consecutive seasons for the first time since 2005-06. Resultantly, former head coach Mike McCarthy fell out of favor faster than namesake Joseph following the Army–McCarthy hearings. Meanwhile, the Bears are just starting to turn their situation. Chicago had in 2018 their first winning season since 2012 and won their first division title since 2010. The Bears also made a postseason appearance for the first time in eight years.

Chicago safety Eddie Jackson told fellow safety Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix that the Bears are just like Alabama to get him to sign with Chicago. Jackson was referring to the atmosphere in the locker room, though. As far as the best online sportsbooks are concerned, the Bears are not an NFL-caliber Crimson Tide.

GREEN BAY PACKERS +4 (-115) +170 O 46 (-110)

Betting Green Bay

Davante Adams will remain, barring any unforeseen event, QB Aaron Rodgers No. 1 guy. Adams 1386 receiving yards and 13 TDs on 111 catches last season. That’s more than twice as many receptions as runner-up Jimmy Graham. Adams was the only Packers receiver with double-digit touchdowns. Other than the Rodgers-Adams connection, new head coach Matt ‘Pete’ LaFleur’s approach to the receiving corps is rather eclectic. “It’s more concept-driven, not necessarily slot versus outside receiver,” he said. “Are you asking the guy to run a choice route, or are you asking him to take the top off and run a vertical route? “You need guys that are at a certain area of expertise, and then it’s our job as coaches to put those guys into position where they can showcase that skill set.” Per sport betting sites, Green Bay went 2-4 SU and ATS in the last six games of the 2018 season.

Betting Chicago

Last season, outside linebacker Khalil Mack made Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie pay for not paying. Mack had the most sacks (12.5) by a Bear since Richard Dent in 1993. More like Khalil Sack, am I right or am I right? Meanwhile, McKenzie was banished to the beyond-the-wall hinterland that are the Miami Dolphins. Yup; the Dolphins are so bad they’re deserving of a Lame of Thrones reference. Bigger and better things are expected of Mack with the benefit of a full preseason. “There will be opportunities for him to do a variety of things from a variety of different alignments,” senior defensive assistant/outside linebackers coach Ted Monachino said. “Freedom, he has a little bit. But variety he has plenty. There’s plenty of things that we’re going to try to use him for and to do with him that allow him to showcase the things he does well.”

Pick: Aaron Rodgers vs. Khalil Mack is going to be the matchup for which to look out on this one. Rodgers is not just a much better quarterback than Mitch Trubisky. If Tom Brady is God and Drew is Breesus, then Rodgers is the Holy Spirit. It’s going to be up to Mack to, if not stop, at least contain him. That’s what it comes down to for users of sport betting sites. If your faith is in Aaron Rodgers, then fade the Bears.
