NFL Preseason Odds: Indianapolis Colts vs. Green Bay Packers Betting

NFL Game Preview for August 26, 2010: Indianapolis Colts @ Green Bay PackersThere is a sports betting line for everything, and if you find the line for the Packers selling out this preseason game then you should take it. The city of Green Bay has not been this hyped about its team since the days of Brett Favre and Mike Holgren. Green Bay starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers is ready to take his place as an elite NFL quarterback this season, and he looks very sharp in the preseason.

The NFL football betting experts are a little shocked at the play of the starting unit for the Indianapolis Colts this preseason. Yes it is only preseason, and yes there are no elaborate schemes being used with the play calling, but the Buffalo Bills ran over the Colts offensive line in the last preseason game on a regular basis. Peyton Manning was still able to make some spectacular plays through a weak Bills defense, but the play of the Colts’ first string has to be a concern for Manning and the team.

Considering the college football betting atmosphere that accompanies every Packer home game whether it be preseason or the regular season, this should be a fun game to watch.

It will pit the experienced and seasoned Green Bay offense against a reforming Colts defense. The Colts first string defense gave up 21 first quarter points to the Bills, and Bills rookie running back C.J. Spiller made the entire Colts defense look like Pop Warner players.

Let’s just say that Peyton Manning and the Colts are not happy. The team has had two losses in the preseason to two teams that the Colts should not lose to; the 49ers and the Bills. This is supposed to be the Colts year to redeem themselves for the loss in Super Bowl XLIV. The Colts are the odds-on favorites to win the Super Bowl this season with odds of 13 to 2. If the Colts were finding answers to their questions in these preseason games it would be different. But they are not finding answers, and that has to concern the entire team.

The Packers’ first string looks great on offense and defense. On offense, Aaron Rodgers is throwing touchdowns and picking apart secondaries with ease. On defense, rookies like defensive back Sam Shields are starting to step up which gives a lot of hope to the Packers’ depth on both sides of the ball. It also bodes well for the hopes of the Packers special teams.

If you bet on NFL games and are concerned about the Colts, don’t panic yet. If the Colts offensive line gets rolled up by the starting defense of the Packers in this game, then it may be time to panic. Offensive tackle Tony Ugoh is starting to look as bad as he did in his rookie year. He was a revolving door in the Bills game, and he could not block for the run either. The Colts will need to address their issues in this game against the Packers, or else 13 to 2 odds won’t mean much if the Colts do not make the playoffs.

But then again, the Colts went 1-3 last preseason and that included a loss to the Detroit Lions. So maybe the Colts know exactly what they are doing.

Pick: Green Bay Packers 31-17
