NFL Preseason Odds: Cincinnati Bengals vs. Indianapolis Colts

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Indianapolis Colts betting oddsThe betting world can feel it coming. That roar you hear coming from Indianapolis is Peyton Manning’s frustration in not feeling like his team is ready to re-claim their AFC title and make right in the Super Bowl this year. The Colts have looked downright pathetic in the preseason, and that includes when Manning is playing quarterback.

The NFL betting community knows better than that. Peyton Manning is not a preseason guy. But the poor play at many positions by key players in this preseason cannot be over looked. Offensive lineman Tony Ugoh is supposed to protect Manning’s blind side, but he has been inconsistent this preseason. Running back Joseph Addai has suffered a concussion that could force him to miss the opening week. The Colts just seem out of sync going in to the last preseason game of the season. That does not mean, however, that Manning will play very much if at all in this last preseason game.

The reason the Cincinnati Bengals picked up rogue wide receiver Terrell Owens become obvious when the team released oft-injured receiver Antonio Bryant a few days ago.

Bryan was supposed to be the compliment to Chad Ochocinco, but now it will be Owens. Both Ochocinco and T.O. seem pretty happy at the way things worked out, and the first-string offense seems to have benefited as well.

Cincinnati quarterback Carson Palmer looks sharp and poised in this preseason. He got a little rattled by the Buffalo Bills defense in the most recent Cincinnati game, but the Bills have been on fire this preseason and have been harassing the likes of Peyton Manning as well.

It can be risky taking a tight end in the first round of the draft, but rookie tight end Jermaine Gresham is high on the Bengals preseason receiving list with 10 catches for 116 yards and a touchdown. Gresham was a major factor in college football betting results, and it looks like he will be doing the same at the professional level. He is tall, he is strong and along with catching he can block as well. Sounds like a good first-round pick even for a tight end.

In this game Peyton Manning is going to scour the sideline like a coach looking for answers more than a quarterback taking a break. The NFL football betting lines have the Colts as the preseason favorite to win the Super Bowl with 13 to 2 odds. While this is only preseason, there are a few player issues that the Colts need to address before the season starts in order to be able to live up to their billing. Most notable in needs for the Colts is defensive line, offensive line and running back. After Joseph Addai, the depth at running back falls way off.

It really looks like head coach Marvin Lewis sat Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco down and asked for the circus to stop. The texting on the sidelines during a game, the outrageous quotes in the media and the locker room shenanigans have all started to become a bit of a distraction to the Bengals. But in the game against the Billls, the two wide receivers looked focused and poised. It won’t matter in this game, but it will matter when the season starts.

Pick: Indianapolis Colts 21-10
