NFL 2011-2012 Week 2 PredictionsThe NFL had some interesting results in week one that may carry over into creating a very interesting season. The online betting sites saw some NFC teams that looked like they could be contenders that were basement dwellers just a few years ago. It is early in the season, but it is never too early to determine if some teams are living up to their promise of being playoff contenders in the NFC.

Kansas City Chiefs @ Detroit Lions (-7 ½)
The Kansas City Chiefs have two things working against it in this game. The first is the drop in the team’s confidence after getting blown out by the Buffalo Bills, in Kansas City, in the season opener. The second challenge for the Chiefs is the Detroit Lions. The Lions are the up and coming team in the NFC and the football betting online experts were extremely impressed at how Detroit won its opener in Tampa Bay. For a dome team to win an opener on natural grass is impressive. For the Lions to beat the Buccaneers was even more impressive. The Lions offense is prolific and its defense is punishing.

The best part for the Lions’ fans is that the team is still very young. The Chiefs may be able to prevent the blow out on this game, but it will be difficult to prevent the loss.
Pick: Detroit Lions

Green Bay Packers (-10 ½) @ Carolina Panthers
Carolina quarterback Cam Newton lit up the college football betting world during his college career, and now he is lighting up the NFL. Newton’s pro debut ended with a loss, but he threw for an NFL rookie opening day record 422 passing yards. He was dynamic and a leader. But the Panthers will still be fishing games out of the schedule to try and win because of its defense. It is impossible to rebuild a team like the Panthers in one season, but the team is off to a good start with Newton. Now Newton gets to face the defense of the defending Super Bowl champions. The Panthers will lose this game, but if Newton can put up big numbers against this defense then that will confirm that the Panthers have its building block for future NFC success.
Pick: Green Bay Packers

Arizona Cardinals @ Washington Redskins (-4 ½)
The Cardinals were picked by just about everyone to beat the Carolina Panthers in week one. But the defensive display by the Cardinals was less than impressive. Arizona did a decent job shutting down the running game of Carolina, but the Cardinals were scorched by the Panthers’ passing game. Washington quarterback Rex Grossman looked good under pressure in Washington’s opening week win over the New York Giants. The Washington defense kept the Giants hemmed in its own end all game long. The NFL pick for this game seems obvious, but Kevin Kolb and that Arizona offense looked like they were coming together towards the end of the Arizona season opener. This game will be close, but the Redskins’ defense should be enough to win the day for Washington.
Pick: Washington Redskins
