Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers bettingFor those of you who enjoy sports betting, week 14 in the NFL is filled with exciting betting opportunities. As the playoff picture starts to form, and some teams officially clinch their division, there are a lot of games with serious wild card implications. Again, no teams have a bye week this week, so there are lots of exciting games to watch. This week features a NFC North showdown between the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions.

Green Bay is still in the playoff picture even though they are behind the Chicago Bears. The Lions too aren’t dead yet as their 4-7 record still has them in contention for a Wild Card spot. The NFC North is almost too close to call as of yet, but by after this week we should have a more concrete idea of what the playoffs will look like.

Last week Green Bay was given a serious test in the Minnesota Vikings. Rodgers was forced to throw on the run a lot, and had the ball intercepted.

However, the Packers were able to fend off the Vikings to move into a second place tie with them. Meanwhile, the Lions were able to hold off fellow NFC Wild Card contender in Seattle to keep their hopes alive.

The Lions do have a slight offensive advantage that’s to the play of Matthew Stafford who has thrown for 3429 yards and 14 touchdowns. Calvin Johnson is living up to his Megatron name with 1257 yards so far this season, however, he has only tallied four touchdowns. Stafford averages 312 passing yards per game, and has looked strong amidst some of the Lion’s tougher games. However, the game will take place in Green Bay and the weather always plays an important role. Especially for teams who are used to playing in a nice warm dome, Lambeau Field tends to be an enemy for visiting teams.

Both teams average 24 points per game, so this game could be decided by three points or less. The game will be won by the defense as the Lions allow on average 25 points per game compared to the Packer’s 22 point per game. Last week, the Packers defense had two key interceptions that helped change the tempo of the game, and help the Packers win the game.

There is no doubt that this will be a close game, but many bookies have the Packers listed as the favorite. Check out the latest 5 dimes review for the best odds and betting news on the NFL for week 14.
