NFL Preseason Week 1 Betting OddsSports Betting Overview

The Jacksonville Jaguars and New England Patriots have a lot of questions to answer in this preseason, and some of those questions will help define each team’s ability to reach the playoffs in 2011. The Jaguars have a quarterback controversy on their hands whether they want to admit it or not. Selecting top rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert in the 2011 NFL draft started a series of events that could disrupt the Jaguars for the entire season. Online casino sports fans watched as the media instantly flocked to get reactions from Jaguars’ veterans after Gabbert was drafted. The players towed the company line by welcoming Gabbert, but the loyalty to current quarterback David Garrard was obviously there. It would also be unfair to Garrard if he does not get a chance to find success with rookie wide receivers such as Dontrelle Inman and Cecil Shorts.

The New England Patriots made the bold move of trading for former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco, who has already shown signs of continuing his attention grabbing act in New England.

But Ochocinco has a large upside that, if quarterback Tom Brady and head coach Bill Belichick can get Ochocinco to cooperate, could be a large benefit to the Patriots. However, the acquisition of team cancer Albert Haynesworth was a mysterious move by the normally conservative Patriots. Haynesworth was not happy in a 3-4 defense, which is what the Patriots play. Haynesworth did not want to be a nose tackle in Washington, which is where the Patriots may use him. Belichick may have bitten off more than he can chew with this acquisition.

Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars are still trying to find that set of wide receivers that can set the AFC on fire. Many of the players that will be trying to crack the Jacksonville roster as a starting wide receiver were part of the NCAA football betting results last season. The thinking may be that a wide receiver corps that develops with a rookie quarterback will be a winning combination two or three years down the road. But players such as running back Maurice Jones-Drew want to win now, and the fans in Jacksonville are also getting a little antsy to see their team start winning.

New England Patriots
Chad Ochocinco has known Tom Brady and Bill Belichick for years. Ochocinco may have secretly harbored a desire to play for New England. But now that he is there, he will need to conform to the New England way of thinking. If Ochocinco can behave himself, then the betonline reviews of his performance by season’s end could have him posting Randy Moss type numbers. As for Haynesworth, Bill Belichick will have to prevent Haynesworth from becoming a distraction to his young defense, and Haynesworth will have to remember that Bill Belichick has no problem cutting players that will not perform.

The Bottom Line
The Jaguars are too young and the Patriots are too deep for Jacksonville to have a chance at winning this game. It may be close, but the Jaguars will be spending more time reviewing talent than they will trying to win.
