Batten down the hatches. In what looks to be football’s version of a Category 5 storm, two quarterbacks – each off 5-touchdown efforts in which they combined to air it our for 911 yards last week – duel once again in a rematch of fi ve weeks ago on this field where the Saints outlasted the Lions, 31-17.

Add to the mix the fact that both teams allow 5.0 Yards Per Rush defensively and suddenly ‘fi ves are alive’ in the Superdome today.

New Orleans will be anxious to make amends for its red-faced opening round loss as double-digit road chalk at Seattle last year knowing that home teams in Game One of the playoffs that exited last year’s postseason as a favorite are 28-10 SU and 24-14 ATS, including 5-0 SU and ATS – there’s that 5 again – as favorites of 9 or more points.

In addition, .800 or greater playoff teams that won 11 or more games last year are 24-6 SU and 23-6-1ATS when playing off back-to-back SU and ATS victories, including 9-0-1 ATS as favorites of more than 7 points.

While the Lions celebrate their return to the playoffs for the fi rst time since 1999, the fact is it’s been 20 years since they last won a game in the postseason as they ride an 0-6 SU and 0-5-1 ATS playoff losing skein into this contest.

Breaking down Detroit’s campaign this season, we fi nd they were 10-2 SU and 7-5 ATS in games against .666 or less opponents, but 0-4 SU and ATS when tackling foes with a larger win percentage.

When added to its 19-game losing streak against greater than .666 foes, it fits like a glove knowing that playoff favorites who win straight up are 21-4- 1 ATS in games against foes off a loss since 1980. Katie bar the door… here come the Saints.

Sportsbooks currently have the Saints listed as 10-point favorites against the Lions, while the game's total is sitting at 58.
