NFL Playoff Betting – Jets, Chargers Preview

NFL Playoff Betting Odds and Picks at BSN SportsThe Super Bowl odds will get a little clearer after this weekend as divisional round of the playoffs is going to trim the teams from eight contestants to the final four.

The New York Jets and San Diego Chargers will play in the final game of the weekend as both teams will meet up on Sunday afternoon. This will be a long road trip for the Jets, who are an East Coast team heading out on the West Coast. Below is a preview for NFL betting fans:

Jets Season Recap

Some people weren’t sure where the Jets were headed when they cut ties with both Brett Favre and Eric Mangini but the new tandem of Rex Ryan and Mark Sanchez started well.

The Jets started 3-0 on the year and were flying high, until they lost six of their next seven games.

Even so, the Jets still finished the season by winning six of their next seven games and qualified for the playoffs with some help from the Cincinnati Bengals and Indianapolis Colts, who rested their starters in the last two weeks.

Chargers Season Recap

The San Diego Chargers were a little opposite of the Jets. They started slow but ended up winning 11 straight games to finish the season.

The Chargers were once again unstoppable down the stretch of the season. They swept the entire NFC East, which gives you an indication of just how good they are.

With Philip Rivers, Darren Sproles, Antonio Gates, Vincent Jackson and Malcolm Floyd, the Chargers have one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL and that’s evident on a weekly basis.

The Matchup

The Chargers are a big favorite in the sportsbook (us sportsbook reviews) and that’s because the Jets are playing their second consecutive road game while the Chargers are well-rested after a bye week.

The Jets are very predictable. They will come out on offense and run the ball for most of the game. If the Chargers can stop them, they’ll win rather easily. If not, the Jets will have a great chance to win.

The Chargers are a high-flying act themselves so if they force this game to be a high-scoring shootout, that also won’t suit the Jets. Overall, this is too tall an order for the Jets, who are led by a rookie quarterback.

Jets Chargers Betting Pick: Chargers -7.5
