NFL Betting: Seahawks, Cardinals Look to Bounce Back on The Road

2011 NFL Week 5 Betting PreviewOne of the biggest problems with the current NFL setup, is that while two undefeated teams fight for first place in the NFC North heading in to week four, there is a strong likelihood that the team that wins the NFC West might not make it to .500. The Seattle Seahawks clinched the division a year ago with a 7-9 record, which means that after a 1-3 start, they are still very much in playoff contention heading in to week five. Arizona Cardinals @ Minnesota Vikings (-2.5)
Sunday, 1:00 PM ET

The obvious storyline heading in to this game is the sports betting battle between mentor and peer, as Donovan McNabb and Kevin Kolb go head-to-head as a pair of former Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterbacks. Both players became expendable with the re-emergence of Michael Vick, and neither have shown that the Eagles should have any reason to regret moving them in their time with their new clubs.

While McNabb has thrown for just 680 yards through four losses, Kolb has struggled with turnovers throwing four interceptions, just one less than his five touchdown tosses. The difference in this contest isn’t at quarterback though, as Minnesota looks to let loose one of the most dominant players in the game in running back Adrian Peterson, and let him run all over the Cardinals to get the Vikings their first win of the price per head season.

NFL Betting Pick: Minnesota Vikings – 2.5

Seattle Seahawks @ New York Giants (-10)
Sunday, 1:00 PM ET

After trailing by more than 20 points at the half, the Seahawks nearly came all the way back to beat Atlanta last week at home, and will look to carry over that momentum with them on the road this week at New York. The Giants have overcome a ton of injuries with their dedication and persistence on both ides of the ball, and it is that attention to detail that has made the biggest difference. Still, New York can sometimes be prone to turnovers, and given the way that Seattle rallied last week against Atlanta, the number is a little high in this pay head contest.

NFL Betting Pick: Seattle Seahawks + 10

Chicago Bears @ Detroit Lions (-6)
Monday, 8:35 PM ET

There are no fishing games here where the Lions return to Monday Night Football to host the division rival Bears in the Motor City. Detroit looked absolutely dominant over the final two quarters of their comeback win against the Cowboys, and that was with an off-game from the defensive line. Chicago has had trouble protecting quarterback Jay Cutler since last season, and if the Lions’ front four can generate some pressure this one could get ugly in a hurry. Calvin Johnson proved against Dallas why he ranks as one of the best in the NFL betting picks at his position and silenced some of his critics, but there is still work to be done in Detroit as they look to remain undefeated.

NFL Betting Pick: Detroit Lions - 6
