NFC Championship Game OddsThe Super Bowl odds are on the board and while the Indianapolis Colts are favored, the NFC teams might have something to say about that. Click here for more information regarding the odds.

The Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints were the two best teams in the NFC this season and both have made a case to be the best in the NFL. The Saints started 13-0 this year while the Vikings started 10-1.

Here is a preview of their matchup this Sunday in the NFC Championship Game:

Vikings Strengths:

While Brett Favre has carried the load this season and made Sidney Rice into a Pro Bowl-caliber wide receiver, the Vikings also have a running back named Adrian Peterson, who notched 18 rushing touchdowns this year.

On defense, the Vikings have a stout defensive line and are as good as it gets up front. Between Jared Allen, Kevin Williams and Pat Williams, the Vikings are tough to move in the ground game.

Vikings Weakness:

While Peterson can be a stud, the reality is that he doesn’t have a 100-yard rushing effort in his last eight games.

Also, the Vikings pass defense was picked apart by a number of good quarterbacks this season and that will be a concern this Sunday

Saints Strengths:

The Saints strengths all feed off of quarterback Drew Brees. Brees is the best quarterback in the NFC and he has a variety of weapons to choose from, from Marques Colston, to Robert Meachem, to Jeremy Shockey, to Reggie Bush.

Saints Weakness:

The Saints defense is opportunistic but they aren’t great. They tend to overachieve at home but on the road, they are vulnerable.

Their running game is also spotty and with a banged up Pierre Thomas right now, the Saints don’t necessarily have the balance on offense that they would like. They are at home, though, so people making their NFL picks should know that the defense and running game overachieve at home.

Outlook & Pick

The matchups favor the Saints but the x-factor will be Adrian Peterson. If he can run through the Saints defense and help the Vikings control the clock, they will have a great chance to win.

Combined with Brett Favre’s magic, the Vikings will finally get back to the Super Bowl and give Favre the opportunity he’s been missing since he retired.

US Sportsbook Review Pick: Vikings +3.5
