Cassel came a shift from the New England Patriots with which he had to supplement from week 1 of 2008 to Tom Brady injured and made it a more dignified. The new head coach Todd Haley, from the staff of the Arizona Cardinals in which he served as offensive coordinator, and also brand new general manager Scott Pioli, from New England, Cassel got a change to their second-round selection of the Draft 2009. Alongside Cassel came to KC supportive veteran Mike Vrabel. Cassel's contract includes $ 28 million guaranteed, and it will be noted that $ 40.5 million during the first three years. The Chiefs have been linked to 4-12 and 2-14 seasons in 2007 and 2008, respectively. With Cassel at the helm of the controls, the Patriots finished with 11-5 mark in 2008, however, stayed away from the playoffs. However, the replacement for Brady, who was not a holder in a game since he was a High School, left a great impression upon completing 63.4% of his passes, compiling 3.693 yards with 21 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
