2012 NFL BettingJoseph Addai will sign with the New England Patriots as indicated by a source with knowledge of the situation.

The player is Indianapolis Colts was the team that won the Super Bowl in 2006, in the process defeating the Patriots in the AFC championship.

Addai has suffered injury from their selection to the Pro Bowl after the 2007 season and is expected to be used in third-down situations. He was one of three free agents to visit the Patriots this offseason. The team also showed interest in Ryan Grant and Tim Hightower.

The Boston Globe reported later that Addai and the Patriots had agreed to a contract, but terms are still unknown.

Addai spent his entire six-year career to date with the Colts and is coming off his worst season in numbers with 433 yards on 118 carries.

The Patriots originally allowed to pass to Addai in the 2006 Draft, selecting running back Lawrence Maroney of Minnesota with the No. 21. Addai, who played at Louisiana State, was drafted by the Colts with selection 30.

Addai fit perfectly as a rookie, helping to fill the space left vacant when veteran Edgerrin James signed as the Arizona Cardinals. Addai rushed for 1.081 yards on 226 carries and seven touchdowns that year.
