Hot Spots in The NFL1. Sandwich Games

These are Non-Divisional Games that take place in between Divisional games. Look to bet against teams that are in this spot. Often time’s teams will have come off a very physical and highly emotional contest versus a division foe. Win or lose these contests tend to take some steam out of teams the following week. When a team has another division game on deck they can be caught licking their wounds and looking ahead. Look to bet against teams in this spot from mid season on as the wear and tear of the NFL season will begin to takes its toll.

2. Teams Heading Into The Bye Off A Win The Week Before

When a team is getting ready for a contest and has their bye on deck often times they struggle to maintain focus and will have a less than stellar week of practice leading into the game.

NFL Supplemental Draft PreviewFormer Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor finally received a response from the NFL and will be eligible for the supplemental draft in the league.

The NFL announced the status of Pryor and thus determined that the event date is Monday, August 22. The Draft was originally scheduled for Wednesday August 17 but the controversial discussion on the quarterback, also affecting the other eligible players on this occasion: cornerback Torez Jones Western Carolina, Georgia running back Caleb King, defensive end Kennan Mace Lindenwood, the North Carolina defensive end and cornerback Mike McAdoo of Northern Illinois.

The quarterback was investigated by the NCAA for receiving improper benefits in exchange for autographed memorabilia and other allegations. Ohio State had given sanction in the first five games of 2011 and later decided to separate the campus. The NFL will continue the punishment imposed by college authorities, leaving him out of action in their first five games as a professional.

NFL Preseason Week 2 Betting: Raiders vs. 49ers Free Picks and Odds

Oakland Raiders vs. San Francisco 49ers Free Picks and OddsOakland over SAN FRANCISCO by 6

You didn’t think we’d let you go through the
betting pre-season without one of our famous ‘Double Entendre’ (teams playing with double revenge from last season – one loss in exhibition and the other during the regular season), did you?

Unlike last year when it occurred multiple times, the situation only occurs once this entire pre-season and we’re not about to let this opportunity pass us by. The Jaguars delivered for us in this role as a 3* BEST BET in last season’s exhibition opener at Philly and we’ll look for the Silver & Black to make amends for a pair of losses to the 49ers in 2010.

With both Oakland and San Francisco under new regimes, we’re a little hesitant to upgrade this to
Best Bet status but the feeling here is we want no part of new coaches that find themselves favored this pre-season as they will likely struggle trying to put the pieces in place following the lockout.

NFL Preseason Betting Week 2: New Orleans Saints vs. Houston Texans Free Pick

New Orleans Saints vs. Houston Texans Free Picks and OddsSATURDAY, AUGUST 20

New Orleans over HOUSTON by 10

You have to like the fact that New Orleans QB Drew Brees scrambled out of his own pocket to have his teammates participate in conditioning camp during the lockout. We expect this to pay early dividends, beginning with exhibition play.

One qualifying play occurred last season when New Orleans invaded Tennessee as a 7.5-point dog and the Saints took home the money in a three-point loss! Incidentally, they also qualified in a 15-0 ATS PERFECT subset by NOT covering their previous home victory by 15 or more NFL betting points.

We also like the fact that the Saints have two extra days of prep time for this one as they’re coming off a Friday night home affair versus the Niners while the Texans will be slugging it out on Monday with the Jets.
