The Dallas Cowboys and the New York Jets will be battling at MetLife Stadium on Sunday in season-opening action.
With Rex roaming the J-E-T-S sidelines and Dallas being Dallas, these two may very well be the most hated teams in the league. That probably won’t stop this from being the most watched game in Sunday night football history.
The ratings will be high – a lot higher than Mark Sanchez’ 75.3 QB rating (No. 27 in the league) from last season.
Despite back-toback AFC title game appearances, we’re still not sold on the ‘Sanchize’ or the Flyboys’ 0-7 ATS mark as non-division home favorites of 10 or less points.
However, we are ready to buy into Tony Romo’s 27-12 SU record in non-division games and the ‘Boys’ solid 9-4-1 ATS log as dogs in season openers.

The Carolina Panthers and the Arizona Cardinals play their betting season openers at University of Phoenix Stadium.
Not certain if Carolina or Cincy will finish with the league’s worst record but one thing is for sure – the Panthers are committed to Cam Newton.
While Newton will display fl ashes of brilliance, the feeling here is it will take him a while to adjust to life in the NFL (i.e. - read defenses).
Kevin Kolb also makes his long-awaited debut as a full-time starter in this league and history does not bode well for the ex-Eagle as the Cardinals are just 1-9 ATS as non-division favorites of seven or more points and a pathetic 2-10 ATS versus the NFC South.
With that being said, our passion for big dogs – along with the Panthers’ profi table 5-1 SU and ATS series mark – still doesn’t give us enough confi dence to grab the points with a rookie head coach and quarterback.

It’s too tough to ignore the G-Men’s recent series dominance (6-0 SU last six, 7-3 ATS last 10), especially considering the fact that Coughlin’s crew was a 10-win team last betting season that failed to make the playoffs.
It’s also never hard fading Rex Grossman as a favorite or a small dog when you consider the ‘Skins, themselves, are 10-20 SU and ATS at home versus division foes, including 5-12 ATS when taking points.
We’re well aware that the Giants D-line arrives in nation’s capital banged up (Umenyiora, Tuck) but Eli Manning should have his way with a Washington defense that allowed 24 PPG and a disgraceful 389 YPG in 2010.
And speaking of Eli, the clincher in this one is provided by his sterling 32-19-1 ATS mark as a visitor, including a league-defying 15-6 ATS when favored to win.

The meeting between the Philadelphia Eagles and St. Louis Rams is this Sunday at Edward Jones Dome.
Andy Reid said the front office had a plan in place and that they would be ready.
Were they ever! The Eagles attacked the free agent market like mad dogs, inking no less than seven former Pro Bowlers to contracts immediately after the NFL Lockout was lifted.
Reid’s prof ciency in winning road games has been well documented on these pages (61-42-1 SU and 64-40 ATS).
While the Rams have cashed eight straight tickets as dogs of 6 or less points in the opening month of the season, Philly’s 8-1-1 ATS mark in this series since 1990 counters that claim.
