NFL Betting: AFC East Making Lots of Noise Heading in To Week Two

AFC East NFL Betting PreviewFor all of the talk about how the AFC championship will go through the East this sports betting season, week one did little to dispel that notion with three of the four teams in the division opening with a win, while the only loss came in an all-AFC East matchup between the New England Patriots and the Miami Dolphins. Despite the loss, the Dolphins showed flashes of a talented team capable of making a strong push, and they will look to bounce back this week at home in one of three key matchups listed below.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ New York Jets
Sunday, 1:00 PM ET

The Jets were handed one of the biggest gifts of NFL week one when Dallas Cowboys’ quarterback Tony Romo tossed an interception to Darrelle Revis with time running down in the fourth quarter of their game, which led to the winning field goal in an eventual 27-24 win.

NFL 2011-2012 Week 2 Preview: NFC Surprises

NFL 2011-2012 Week 2 PredictionsThe NFL had some interesting results in week one that may carry over into creating a very interesting season. The online betting sites saw some NFC teams that looked like they could be contenders that were basement dwellers just a few years ago. It is early in the season, but it is never too early to determine if some teams are living up to their promise of being playoff contenders in the NFC.

Kansas City Chiefs @ Detroit Lions (-7 ½)
The Kansas City Chiefs have two things working against it in this game. The first is the drop in the team’s confidence after getting blown out by the Buffalo Bills, in Kansas City, in the season opener. The second challenge for the Chiefs is the Detroit Lions. The Lions are the up and coming team in the NFC and the football betting online experts were extremely impressed at how Detroit won its opener in Tampa Bay. For a dome team to win an opener on natural grass is impressive. For the Lions to beat the Buccaneers was even more impressive. The Lions offense is prolific and its defense is punishing.

Monday Night Football Oakland Raiders against Denver Broncos Odds

Oakland Raiders against Denver Broncos Betting LinesThe Oakland Raiders and the Denver Broncos play their season openers this Monday Septemmber 12th, 2011.

We would like to remind you to play against any NFL home pick or favorite with triple revenge exact versus a division opponent that won eight or more games last season.

That puts us in a winning 41-24-4 spot since 1980. That stat appears to be the icing on Al Davis’ 100th birthday cake as the Raiders are 10-2 ATS (6-0 SU and ATS last season) versus the division since 2009 while the Broncos are an overrated 2-11-1 ATS their last 14 tries as home favorites.

Even series history sides with the Silver and Black as the Raiders are a perfect 5-0 ATS in their last five visits to the Mile High City, including the last three in SU variety.

Oh, and here’s a little more FYI: 0-4 teams from the pre-season that dress up as dogs (sweat suits optional) are a nifty 8-4-1 ATS in season openers.

NFL Betting: Patriots vs. Dolphins Odds and Stats

England Patriots against Miami Dolphins on Monday night footballThe England Patriots meet the Miami Dolphins at Sun Life Stadium on Monday Night Football.

A bevy of offseason veteran signings makes the Patriots, not the Jets, the team to beat in the AFC East this season.

With a 25-10 ATS mark on the division highway since 2000 and a 10-1 ATS record as division road favorites of 4 or more points, it’s easy to make a case for the Brady Bunch tonight… especially when you consider the combined 79-21 beating they handed the Dolphins in two games last season.

However, our betting database reminds us: Monday night dogs in Game One of the season are the way to go as they are 26-11 ATS, including 14-3 ATS versus a team that won 13 or more games last year.
