College Basketball Betting – Pirates Try to Weather Streaking Red Storm

College Basketball Betting Odds and PicksMarch Madness betting players know how important it is to look at a team with momentum heading into the postseason, and that would be St. John’s, who are taking a six-game winning streak into Seton Hall on Thursday night, and the Pirates have fallen off the pace.

St. John’s Seton Hall Betting – Thursday, 7:00 PM ET

The No.15 Red Storm (19-9, 11-5) continue to roll after an 81-68 win at Villanova, and once again their star guard came up big. Dwight Hardy is making a strong push for Bi8g East Player of the Year as he has really stepped up in the second half of the season, and Hardy dropped 34 points, his third game with 30 or more points in his last seven outings. D.J. Kennedy added 12 points and 14 rebounds for the Red Storm, who held a 37-23 edge on the glass. Those watching the NHL trade deadline noticed the lack of star power up for grabs, and in the Big East, no one figured that Hardy would be in the running for the best player in the conference. But the Red Storm have jumped on the back of their star, and now no one wants to see them in the postseason.

The Pirates (11-17, 5-11) have now lost five of their last six after falling 60-48 at Notre Dame, and they fell apart after the break when they were outscored by 15 points. Jeff Robinson notched 16 points for the Pirates, who shot just 30.4% from the field, and they were outrebounded 39-29. The Pirates just don’t have the talent to compete with the big dogs in the Big East, and they’ve had some bad luck as leading scorer Jeremy Hazell has battled injuries all season, players have gotten in trouble, and there has been no stability in the team. That will also bite you in a conference this deep.

We’re willing to bet 5dimes that the Pirates will give the Red Storm a game at home, where they are 8-6 ATS this season, while the Red Storm are 6-6 ATS on the road. St. John’s haven’t fared that well at Seton Hall recently, going 0-6 SU and 1-5 ATS in their last six trips, but we think they’ll end that trend on Thursday as the Red Storm are too deep and athletic for the Pirates. Like they did with Notre Dame, the Pirates will likely keep it close for the first half, but we expect the Red Storm to take control in the second half of the game, particularly Hardy. Look for St. John’s to win at Seton Hall for the first time since 1998, and take the Red Storm in your online sports betting picks.
