College Basketball Betting: Sun Devils Look For Sweep In Series With Oregon

Sun Devils vs. Oregon OddsDespite just four PAC-10 wins this season, the Arizona State Sun Devils have managed to become a thorn in the side of at least one another team in the conference. Fortunately for them that team is the same one they will meet in the first round of this year’s PAC-10 title tournament. The Sun Devils swept the season series between these teams, including a 73-53 victory less than a week ago at home, and will look to make it three-in-a-row with the chance to advance on the line.

Oregon closed out the season ice cold, with four straight losses including three defeats by double-digit totals.

Still, it is very hard for two evenly matched teams to fight to the same outcome three times in the same season, which has the college basketball betting experts labeling the Ducks as the favorites to win this game.

College Basketball Betting Preview: Arizona State

The Sun Devils went on a nine-game losing streak that extended from the middle of January to the middle of February, but that can’t take anything away from how hot they finished the year. Arizona State won three of their final five games including consecutive wins over Oregon and Oregon State at the tail end, and are now hoping that momentum will carry into the postseason. Richard Kuksiks and Ty Abbott scored 22 each in the Sun Devils’ latest win over the Ducks, but the real story in that game was their shooting from beyond the arc as the team set a season-high for three-balls with 16.

College Basketball Betting Preview: Oregon

The Ducks just couldn’t find their rhythm down the final stretch, losing their final four games to fall behind California and Washington State in the middle of the pack. While their offense remained fairly consistent, it was the Oregon defense that struggled the most as they allowed three of their final four opponents to hit the 80-point mark. That included allowing the Sun Devils to light them up from beyond the pay per head arc with 16 three-balls in a 20-point loss. Jay-R Strowbridge scored 17 for Oregon in the loss, but more will be expected of leading scorer Joevan Catron this time around.

College Basketball Betting: Outlook & Pick

It is a well-known sports betting bonus rule that when two seemingly even-matched teams play one another three times in the same season it is unlikely that one will be able to sweep all three games. However, given the way that Arizona State’s up-tempo offense was able to pick apart the Ducks’ defense in both matchups, it would be impossible to give Oregon the nod in this one regardless of what the odds say. The Sun Devils will advance to face the No. 2 UCLA Bruins in the second round.
