The Road To The Final Four: West Virginia

Followers of the Mountaineers view it as no surprise that this team has made it all the way to the Final Four. After an excellent season in the Big East, West Virginia made a run through the conference title tournament, beating the Hoyas 60-58 in the finals for its first Big East championship crown. The Mountaineers encountered inferior teams on the way to the East regional finals, facing no team with a seed higher than 10, which included avoiding a potential Sweet 16 contest with New Mexico after number 11 Washington upset them in the second round. West Virginia didn’t match up well against Kentucky, but then again, what team did? That mattered little as the Mountaineers made eight three-balls in the first half without hitting a two-point bucket on their way to a 73-66 win, while a talented Wildcats team loaded with scorers struggled missing their first 20 from beyond the arc. Now West Virginia is in its first Final Four since 1959, and playing as confident as it has all season. 

The Road To The Final Four: Duke

The Blue Devils are the only top seed to represent their region in the Final Four, and they did it in style absolutely dominating all four national title games. The closest margin of any win was seven in a 78-71 regional final win over Baylor, the latest win in a run of eight straight, which included adding an 18th ACC tournament title to the trophy collection in a 65-61 win over Georgia Tech. Their first three NCAA basketball betting wins came by a total 57 points, and with three players averaging over 17 points per game, led by guard Jon Scheyer’s 18.2 mark, Duke can flat out score. 

Who Will Advance To The National Title Game: West Virginia vs Duke

West Virginia has been on a tear on the road to the Final Four, but its win over the Wildcats in the East region finals can be attributed mainly to the Mountaineers getting as hot as they have been all season at the same time Kentucky went ice cold.
