TCU Horned Frogs vs. Boise State Broncos Analysis and Trends

2011 TCU Horned Frogs vs. Boise State Broncos trendsHere we go! It ain’t LSU versus Alabama but it sure ranks as the Game of the Year in the Mountain West Conference – and arguably the ‘Game of Eternity’ as the Froggies will be leaping over to the Big 12 next season.

What’s at stake? Undefeated Boise State’s No. 5 BCS ranking and TCU’s 21-game MWC winning streak.

As expected, both sides enter today’s matchup (the first and only time the two teams will square off as MWC foes) with strong ATS support.

The Broncos, who beat the Frogs, 17-10, as 7-point dogs in their last meeting (2009 Fiesta Bowl), are a jaw-dropping 9-0 SU and 8-1 ATS playing on the Smurf Turf if they’re unbeaten and taking on a greater-than .500 adversary.

The Horned Ones respond in this rare underdog role with an 8-5 SU and 9-3-1 ATS record, including 6-1-1 ATS in conference play. But there’s plenty more to back the Fort Worth Frogs.

TCU is an incredible 34-3 SU in its last 37 games, with no loss coming by more than 7 points.

Gary Patterson’s squad has also won 29 of its last 30 MWC games, with their only loss coming by a mere 3 points.

All of which begs the question: why is Boise State laying teens to this bunch?

The Frogs gained a season-high 617 yards in last week’s win-no cover at Wyoming but must avoid the turnovers (FIVE total versus the Cowboys) that sabotaged their red-zone efforts in that game.

BSN Sports database points out a possible chink in the Broncos’ armor, too – a 2-5 ATS mark as chalk versus a .750 or greater foe.

Big Blue will be looking to make a statement to BCS doubters but we can’t pass up the chance to use such a quality defensive dog at such a nice price.

TCU covers its ninth straight Game Ten situation with a narrow loss this afternoon.

TCU Horned Frogs vs. Boise State Broncos trends to consider:
