Outback Bowl – 3 Best StorylinesBy Jay Moreny

1 – Iowa’s Quest To Make A Statement

Sportsbetting.ag is a place where you can become an improved bettor.  Iowa thinks it has an improved football team on its hands. The Hawkeyes struggled through September and much of October, but in November, they finished the season in style, beating Michigan and Nebraska to close their 12-game run with an 8-4 record. Iowa looked like a .500 team for much of the season, but the defense was able to take control of games while also standing tall in overtime against Northwestern. Iowa also handled Minnesota, taking back the “Floyd of Rosedale” trophy, which it had not been able to do when playing in Minneapolis in previous seasons. This was not a spectacular season, but it was certainly a lot better than it looked after an opening-week loss at home to Northern Illinois. Iowa now has a right to claim that it is on the upswing, and that it has broken from the middle of the pack in the Big Ten. However, a lot of national critics would say that the Big Ten just hasn’t been strong enough this season to give Iowa the benefit of the doubt against LSU. The Hawkeyes are going to use criticism as a source of motivation. Will that be enough against the speed and power of LSU, a team that has endured a down season but is still in the top third of the SEC? We’ll have to find out.

2 – Has LSU Given Up On Its Season?

At respected betting sites, you wind up learning more about live sports betting online. One thing we’ll learn in this game is if LSU feels it has run the race this season, or if the Tigers feel they have some unfinished business in this game. LSU played a rather lethargic game in its regular season finale against Arkansas. Yes, Zach Mettenberger got injured in that contest, but LSU was struggling against the Razorbacks even before Mettenberger got hurt. LSU was listless and sluggish on that day, and one has to wonder if the Tigers – having just beaten Texas A&M and Johnny Manziel the week before – basically blew off that game, thinking that it had nothing left to achieve this season. Playing Iowa in an early-afternoon bowl game was not what LSU had in mind before this season began. The Tigers might not be inspired when kickoff time arrives, and that’s exactly the kind of thing that could give Iowa an opening in this game.

3 –Zach Mettenberger – Can LSU Deal With His Absence?

For anyone who loves to explore the world of sports betting online, this is a game that will test his or her betting acumen. LSU will not have its best quarterback, Zach Mettenberger, on the field. Mettenberger grew a lot this season, becoming a far better player than he was in 2012. He could stretch a defense with an NFL-level arm, and that will be missing for the Tigers in this game. The Hawkeyes could corral LSU on defense, and that has to concern LSU head coach Les Miles.
