Utah State Aggies vs. Ohio Bobcats OddsApparently a few people failed to live up to their ‘Humanitarian’ obligations as this former bowl of the same name now becomes the ‘Famous’ Idaho Potato Bowl. Join Now to Bet on this Game!

It’s certainly no surprise to see the Aggies here, not after their sizzling start to the season at Auburn where they came within a hair of upsetting the defending national champs on their home fi eld, falling late by a 42-38 score.

Ohio, too, got off to a fast start, opening 3-0 for fi rst time since 1996. The Bobcats then ran smack into a 1-3 wall before closing out the regular season with fi ve straight conference wins to bag a spot in the MAC title game.

A word of caution… Ohio could be suffering the after-affects of losing the championship battle to Northern Illinois, 23-20 – a game in which the Bobcats led 20-0 late in the 3rd quarter.

However, we do know this for sure: Utah State is a certified ‘bowl virgin’ favorite (no bowls the last three years) and these guys are a money-burning 1-5 ATS when they own a defense that allows 28 or more points per betting game.

Even worse for the Aggies, USU owns a miserable 9-24 ATS record as chalk under 3rd-year head coach Gary Andersen. Meanwhile, Frank Solich’s ‘Cats have clawed their way to a perfect 8-0 ATS mark off an ATS win when facing a greater-than .500 foe. Ohio is also no stranger to postseason play.

Solich has taken his squad bowling three times prior to this game while the Aggies’ last bowl appearance was a 35-19 loss to Cincinnati in the 1997 Humanitarian Bowl.

Yes, we’re aware that MAC bowlers off a loss are a blood-curdling 2-11 SU and 1-12 ATS since 2002 but the Bobcats have gone 12-4 ATS of late when squaring off against an opponent with a winning record.

OU owns the better offense and better defense in games played against lined foes this gambling season, plus the Bobbies have compiled an impressive 10-3 ITS mark in 2011.

So, despite the MAC’s recent lack of success in bowl games, we prefer siding with the experienced bowler against the maiden here. WAC bowl favorites drop to 8-22 ATS as Solich and company famously claim the big cash prize.

Sportsbooks currently have the Aggies listed as 3-point favorites versus the Bobcats, while the game's total is sitting at 58.
