The hiring of former Syracuse head coach Paul Pasqualoni to take over at UConn raised more than a few eyebrows among Huskies fans. And with the sled dogs from Storrs struggling to a 2-2 start, the grumbling has not slowed down. One thing’s for sure: Pasqualoni had better light a fi re under his ‘rushing attack’ after UConn limped to a pathetic 80 yards in 42 carries (1.9 yards per rush!) against Buffalo last week – a defense not heretofore known as an immovable object. Fortunately for the home team, they get to tackle a second straight MAC foe before their Big East opener at West Virginia, and Western Michigan’s run defense proved to be a work in progress in Saturday’s loss to Illinois, yielding a generous 5.7 yards per carry to the Illini. Chances are the Broncos will be hungover following their bitter 23-20 defeat at Champaign and more likely interested in next week’s Homecoming affair with rising power Bowling Green (a team that WMU man-handled in 2010 by a 41-7 score). Visiting head coach Bill Cubit has tasted little success in today’s role, failing to cash in four straight tries as a non-conference pick or dog of less than 7 points. Our database seconds that motion be reminding us that Big East home favorites of 25 or less points are 34-10-1 ATS against MAC invaders. More betting stats to consider: The total has gone OVER in 5 of Georgia Tech's last 6 games
