One of the most traditional and enduring rivalries in the history of college sports, the annual Army-Navy game will take the football betting spotlight this weekend as the Navy Midshipmen battle the Army Black Knights in the only FBS game of the week. Navy is favored by nine-points after finishing out the year with six wins over its final seven games, and will look for its 11th-straight win in this series as it looks to continue to dominate, and fight their way to a bowl game.
Navy Midshipmen vs. Army Black Knights
It doesn’t appear as though this Army team will have what it takes to end its drought, as they managed just two wins in 11 games and finished as the lone Independent school with a losing record. However, the Black Knights have been a solid pick against the spread in this series, going 7-3 during a 10-game losing streak.
College Football Betting Preview: Navy
The Midshipmen finish the year strong with six wins over their final seven games, including their first win over a Big Ten school in more than 30 years. Navy finished the season in style with 407 rushing yards and three touchdowns in a 21-10 win over Texas State, with Noah Copeland punching in the first two scores before Gee Gee Greene got in on the action in the second half with an insurance marker. That tandem combined for 1,342 rushing yards and seven touchdowns to lead the nation’s sixth-ranked rushing attack, and will be key again this week as they look to add to their dominance in this 5Dimes rivalry.
College Football Betting Preview: Army
The Black Knights actually had the better rushing numbers of the two programs on offense, but their defense was atrocious all year, allowing an average of 37 points per game. Army is coming off its worst defensive effort of the year as well after allowing a season-high 63 points against Temple, with Montel Harris compiling 351 rushing scores and seven scores on his own. Senior quarterback Trent Steelman and running back Larry Dixon combined for 245 rushing yards of their own in the loss but it wasn’t nearly enough to overcome the damage done to its defense.
College Football Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick
The chances of Army snapping their 10-game losing streak in this rivalry are slim, but they have been a good sports betting pick against the spread in the series but that has lowered the number for this contest. Navy has the superior defense and a ground game good enough that they will be able to dictate the pace of the game, and they should have no problem covering the seven.
