College Football Bowl Betting – Alamo Bowl Preview

College Football Bowl Betting – Alamo Bowl Preview While the bowl games are supposed to be on-field product, sports wagering cappers know that the story of this game has been off the field.

Earlier in the week, reports surfaced that Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach wrongly treated one of his players. Within that week, Leach has been fired and will not coach the team at the Alamo Bowl.

For Michigan State, they have suspended a slew of their players as well so this will truly be a matchup of what is more important: a coach without players or players without a coach.

Michigan State Spartans vs Texas Tech Red Raiders

Bet Jamaica Odds (Bet Jamaica Sportsbook Review): Texas Tech -7.5

2009 Recap: Michigan State

The Michigan State Spartans had a very ugly season and are lucky to be in a bowl game at all. They were 6-6 and head into this game on the heels of a 42-14 home loss to Penn State.

The Spartans will try to get a win so that their fan base can get back to focusing on football but right now, it’s fairly tough. The Spartans best win this year came against Northwestern and as they head into this bowl game, eight of their players are suspended because of an altercation at a club. As many as 15 other players could be involved and/or suspended.

This has been a bad year for Michigan State and it could cost Marc Dantonio his job if they have another signature disheartening effort in a bowl game.

2009 Recap: Texas Tech

Texas Tech wasn’t expected to have a banner year after making a big splash last year but they still did well. The Red Raiders started 2-2 but finished with wins in six of their last eight games. In that span, they found their rhythm with big wins over Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma.

Even so, the season has been marred by the firing of head coach Mike Leach. It will be fairly hard for this team to focus on football.

The college football lines have Texas Tech as a big favorite but it is fairly hard to handicap this game. Leach was the man with the plan at Texas Tech and he also called the plays. The defensive coordinator will now take that over, which makes the job much more difficult.

For Michigan State, though, they will be without several key players for this contest. And it’s not like they were that talented to begin with.

Overall, this should be Texas Tech’s game to lose because of the player suspensions for Michigan State.

NCAA Football Picks: Texas Tech -7.5
