College Football Betting: West Virginia Mountaineers vs. South Florida Bulls

West Virginia Mountaineers vs. South Florida Bulls LinesThe West Virginia Mountaineers face South Florida Bulls on Thursday at Raymond James Stadium in a betting game televised on ESPN.

The final week of the College Football betting regular season (although Army/Navy has a week of its own) kicks off in Tampa with questions still to be answered – and many concerning the Big East.

Unless Oklahoma State could convince every single voter (and we don’t think they will after seeing our writeup) to put them ahead of the Tide in next week’s Coaches and Harris Polls, it looks as if the BCS Championship Game is a rematch of LSU and Alabama as the Tigers are in… win or lose.

However, there are automatic conference bids as well as at-large bids still to be decided and it begins tonight as the Hillbillies are looking to hit the BCS scene for the fi rst time in four years.

They’ll need a little help, though, and it’s as simple as this: with Louisville in the clubhouse lead, West Virginia needs a win of its own and a Cincinnati victory over UConn as they hold all the ‘Cards’ in a three-way tie.

However, if Cincinnati loses, 5-loss Louisville goes to a BCS bowl thanks to its win in Morgantown earlier this betting season.

But let’s not forget about the Bulls. One more win makes them bowl eligible and a 6-6 Big East team – albeit a slumping one (1-5 SU last six) – still carries more weight than most MAC, Sun Belt or WAC squads.

USF’s six losses straight-up as a favorite this campaign edged Texas A&M (5) for the biggest chokers in 2011 but should the Bulls show up as dogs tonight, we may have to run with them.

With HC Skip Holtz 28-10-1 ATS when taking points and only 18-29 ATS when laying them in his coaching career, it should come as no surprise to fi nd the dog 8-2 ATS in South Florida games this betting season.

Though the Mounties 7-2 SU and 7-1-1 ATS log in ‘Last Road Games’ off a SU win could put us in their corner as well, we really need to see where the line settles before diving in. ‘Tis the season – but not the game – to be giving. We’ll let you make the game-time call.

Current betting line: West Virginia -1½ and the total for the game is set at 55.
