2011 Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Oklahoma Sooners bettingThe Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Oklahoma Sooners will fight on Saturday to pick up a win at Memorial Stadium. Join Now to Bet on this Game!

As you all are well aware (and so we’ve been told), we usually have a hard time backing the big boys, especially this time of the year when the proverbial noose tightens.

We think you’ll agree, thanks to support from our betting data, that a solid case can be made for the visiting James Gang.

For starters, if you were to look up ‘despise’ in our dictionary, you would find: /di’spiz/ vb : Homecoming Favorites. And that’s a shame as the Oklahoma defense is really stepping up, holding each of its last three opponents to season-low yardage.

However, the combination of today’s alumni gathering with Tubs’ infatuation for ruining perfect seasons has us siding with the Red Raiders – despite the Sooners’ motive to bypass Alabama and LSU in the polls.

In reality, with LSU and Alabama meeting shortly, there is no immediate urgency for Oklahoma and that fits in nicely with OU’s 1-4 ATS mark after facing Kansas.

It also ties into Tech’s 4-0 ATS foes 10-19) has paved the way thus far but that hasn’t stopped Houston from checking in at No. 19 in the initial BCS standings. And it should just get better with only a pair of respectable squads in SMU and Tulsa yet to come.

Realistically, they won’t pass any undefeated teams and it’s highly unlikely they’ll finish ahead of many one-loss teams but we say enjoy it while it lasts.

And it will certainly last this week as the 3-4 Blundering Herd arrive having won the stats battle just once this season.

While series history doesn’t give us a lot to go on (these two have met twice, each winning one with Marshall grabbing both covers), we will say that Case Keenum and company left Huntington in 2008 (the last time they met) with a bad taste in their mouths, dropping a 37-23 decision as 7-point favorites – a loss that cost the Cougars the Conference USA West crown.

You know what they say about payback and we can always make a ‘Case’ for that. They’ll be no problems tonight in Houston. Lay it.

The Sooners listed as 28-point favorites versus the Red Raiders, and the game's total is sitting at 69½.
