Don’t shoot the messenger. Yes, the knee-jerk reaction would be to roll with the Tide but Saban’s squad is in a classic BUBBLE BURST letdown role tonight in Starkville. In fact, the stark reality is: 6-0 or greater teams who suffer their first loss of the season in overtime are 0-4 ATS as favorites the following game since the inception of overtime games in college football. Heck, even the ‘Nictator’ is just 3-3 SU and 2-4 ATS with ‘Bama off a SU favorite loss, including 0-4 ATS versus .666 or less opposition. And to further emphasize this 17-point overlay, the Bulldogs have not allowed more than 20 points at home this season and HC Dan Mullen has only lost one game by more than 13 points in 18 contests at Davis Wade Stadium! To boot, the third-year head coach is also 5-1 SU and ATS versus a conference foe off a SU loss. And while Missy State probably won’t get that magic sixth win this evening (don’t worry Bulldog fans – Ole Miss is still on the slate), they should keep it interesting as a 3-1 ATS log as double-digit home dogs since 2008 would suggest. Yeah, over and over the BCS tells us that the Crimson are still very much in the national picture despite the home loss to LSU – and they might be – but they’re not offensive enough in this spot. We’ve ‘Stated’ our case – now it’s up to you. The Crimson Tide listed as 17-point favorites versus the Bulldogs, the total for the game is set at 42. Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs Stats: Alabama is 9-1 SU in its last 10 games
