Sometimes even the most obvious plays work – and this looks to be today’s ‘Captain Obvious Award’ winner, hands-down. Talk about the proverbial two teams headed in opposite directions: Va Tech has played the role of runaway train lately, winning every road game this betting season while covering all three in this price range. And Clemson? The Chad Morris-run offense that was blowing the doors off everyone in the early season has lost more than one cylinder in recent weeks, going 1-3 SU and 0-4 ATS while averaging a mere 18.6 PPG over that time span. Not so for the Hokies, who have been hitting the 30-point mark with regularity. Va Tech has also been counting the days to this rematch with the Tigers, who embarrassed Frank Beamer’s team at Blacksburg on October 1st, 23-3. Beamer Ball owns a dependable 7-1 ATS mark when playing with ACC revenge and they’ve covered all three prior Conference Championship appearances. The man himself has padded many a bank account when looking to get even for an earlier loss: Beamer stands 30-10-2 ATS with conference revenge, including an incredible 23-4- 2 ATS when not laying double digits. Clemson comes up short, however, with a costly 3-7 ATS effort versus conference revenge and lost to Georgia Tech in its only previous trip to the ACC fi nals (2009). Normally, we’d take a close look at the dog but Clemmie’s season-ending slide finds us taking pause (Tigers outgained 420-153 in last Saturday’s loss to South Carolina). Sportsbooks at Vegas currently have the Hokies listed as 6½-point favorites against the Tigers, and the game's total is sitting at 52½.
