Which NBA Teams Have The Potential To Make The Playoffs Next Year?

NBA Playoffs PredictionsThe best on line sports book experts are wrapped up in this year’s NBA playoffs because there are so many interesting story lines to follow. But a look ahead to next season gives some insight into the excitement that fans will have watching some teams make the playoffs that missed the playoffs this season. It isn’t always easy to turn a team who missed the postseason into a postseason contender in one offseason, but there are some teams that the sportsbook agents feel have a really good chance at making a playoff bid next season.

Utah Jazz

The Utah Jazz battled the Los Angeles Lakers right down to the last week of the season and wound up missing the playoffs by two games. This Jazz team does not have a lot of superstar talent, but it is a young team that really knows how to work together. The team has defensive holes that it will try and fill in the draft and the offseason. If Utah can pick up the pieces it needs to hold onto leads late in games and stay competitive in the final month of the season, then the fans in Utah could very well see a return to the postseason for the Jazz.

Dallas Mavericks

The best sports betting experts blame the lack of playoffs in Dallas on the slow start that the Mavericks had. The team started the campaign without Dirk Nowitzki and it even struggled when the superstar returned. But the Mavs really poured it on after the All-Star break and made a run towards the playoffs. Dallas was giving the Lakers all kinds of problems late in the season, but the slow start proved to be too much for the Mavericks to overcome. The Mavs have some bench depth to pick up in the offseason, but it could be a much better season for Dallas when 2013-14 gets started.

Toronto Raptors

The Raptors have not made the playoffs since 2008, but the online sports betting sites think that 2013-14 could be the year for Toronto to make a push back into the playoffs. When Rudy Gay arrived in Toronto at the trade deadline, it seemed like he flicked on a switch with the Raptors that made the team instantly better. Toronto has already indicated that it wants to build on that momentum by making a very public bid to bring in Phil Jackson as the team’s coach. The Raptors could be a playoff contender with the right pieces in place.

Philadelphia 76ers

Despite dealing with the Andrew Bynum fiasco, the 76ers managed to stay in the playoff discussion for most of the 2012-13 season. Philadelphia is going to need to make a decision on what do to with Bynum and then work to bring in talent to help bolster this roster. This could be a playoff team if it could just find a big man that it can rely on.
