NBA Playoffs: Pacers vs. Knicks Betting

Pacers vs. Knicks Playoffs Betting Odds The Indiana Pacers have led the New York Knicks by a 3-1 margin in an NBA playoff series on two prior occasions. Both of those series went seven games. Will history change this time?

Eastern Conference Semifinals, Game 5:

Indiana Pacers @ New York Knicks – Thursday, May 16

In an online casino, it is hard to keep betting on the same number over and over again, because the odds suggest that at some point, a different number is going to come up. This is the challenge of picking a road team in Game 5 of a playoff series when it leads 3-1. The road team in a Game 5 usually acquires a 3-1 series lead by splitting Games 1 and 2 on the road and then winning both Game 3 and Game 4 at home. It’s not as though a road team with a 3-1 series lead is dominant on its opponent’s home court.

The team with a 3-1 series lead is normally dominant at home. Such has been the case for the Indiana Pacers in this series. Indiana won Game 1 in New York, got blown out in Game 2, but when went to Indianapolis and cruised in Games 3 and 4. Indiana is obviously the favorite to win the series, but we’re talking about Game 5 here, not the series as a whole. Are the Pacers likely to finish the job here in Madison Square Garden? It’s a close call.

Regardless of the pay per head sites you prefer, you will have to acknowledge that the Knicks, as badly as they’ve played in this series, are likely to play with desperation and passion on their home floor. New York achieved richly in the regular season, starting its campaign with 18 wins in 23 games and then winning 17 of its final 23 games to finish second in the Eastern Conference. The Pacers, without leading scorer Danny Granger for almost all of the season, weren’t quite able to keep pace. The Knicks needed to lean on home-court advantage in this series, but they lost it in Game 1 and could not earn it back in two disastrous games in Indianapolis. New York lost by 11 points in both Game 3 and Game 4, but those games were more lopsided than an 11-point margin might suggest. Indiana was not remotely threatened in either contest, as the Knicks’ offense – which had been so good during the regular season – crumbled in the face of the Pacers’ defense.

Examining BSN Sports blog reviews during an NBA season will enable you to realize that the Knicks buttered their bread during the season on three-point shooting, taking and making a lot of long balls. In this series, the Knicks have gone away from their identity. They’re not making threes, but that’s partly because they’re not taking very many. Even NFL betting experts with a fairly limited amount of NBA knowledge will probably say that the Knicks need to return to their modus operandi. Expect them – down 3-1 and at home – to do just that. A sense of urgency probably won’t win this series for the Knicks… but it will get them a Game 5 triumph.
