Boston Celtics vs. New York Knicks Game 5 OddsThe New York Knicks have not won an NBA playoff series since 2000. They can advance to the second round of the playoffs for the first time in 13 years if they win on Wednesday night.

Eastern Conference First Round, Game 5:

Boston Celtics @ New York Knicks – Wednesday, May 1

In the realm of sports betting online, and any casino online you're going to find it hard to plunk down some cash on the Boston Celtics in this game. All the signs point to a New York conquest. At BSNsportsblog.com reviews on the market, you will not find a dissenting voice on this matter. The online sports betting skinny is that the Knicks have played more complete games than Boston, showing more endurance for a number of reasons.

This first-round playoff series has been a mostly predictable and one-sided affair. The formula for New York has been easy to see and it goes like this: The first halves of these games have felt like real all-out battles. The Celtics have even been up at halftime in three out of the four games, which is why this part of the game has been misleading. If you view all of the games’ results, the Knicks have won three out of four and twice by double-digit margins.

The main reason to value the Knicks here is that although both of these teams have a lot of veteran players and have had their ups and downs with injuries over the course of the season, the Knicks have been smarter about managing them. They have given ample rest to players so that the backups have had the time to find their rhythm within the team’s style. This is the point of differentiation between the two teams that simply has to be factored into the equation by any pay per head bookie service that takes business on this contest.

The most notable example of this dynamic – in which the Knicks’ backups have provided more production than the Celtics’ reserves – is Kenyon Martin, who has been perfect in the role of spelling Tyson Chandler, whose back is still not one hundred percent. Martin has stolen minutes for New York head coach Mike Woodson and has given the Knicks the offensive rebounding that has made them so tough to beat this season. New York’s ability to get on the offensive glass has enabled its three-point shooting to become that much more lethal in 2013.

Boston, on the other hand, never really found any one person to stand in for its biggest injured player, Rajon Rondo. Doc Rivers pretty much decided to run the point by committee and it's just not cutting it against New York in this series. The Celtics lack direction on offense and have scored fewer than 35 points in a half on several occasions in this series alone. When you look at the whole of this series, Game 5 is almost assuredly going to go to the Knicks, especially because it’s going to be on their home floor. Boston, staring at the end of Kevin Garnett’s career, just doesn’t have enough energy left in the tank.
