NBA BettingThe betting world is still mourning the death of former Los Angeles Lakers’ owner Dr. Jerry Buss over the weekend. The Lakers is also feeling a sense of loss that could be the motivation that the team needs to continue its march towards the playoffs. Many of the betting sites are expecting the fiercest playoff series to come out of the west this season, and this weekend will give us a couple of previews that maybe critical to making playoff predictions.

Saturday – Houston Rockets @ Washington Wizards

The Houston Rockets has managed to work its way into eight place in the Western Conference with teams like Portland and the Los Angeles Lakers on its trail. The Rockets need to take advantage of every opportunity it has, and the Washington Wizards definitely present an opportunity. The Wizards has been struggling all season long and the Rockets need to improve its road record in the second half of the season. Look for Houston to take this game very seriously.

Pick: Houston Rockets

Saturday – Utah Jazz @ Los Angeles Clippers

The Utah Jazz is another team on the NBA Western Conference playoff bubble that needs all of the wins it can get. But there isn’t an online bookie in business that thinks that the Los Angeles Clippers will allow the Jazz to leave Los Angeles with a win. While the Jazz will put up a strong fight against the Clippers in this game, this will be one of those games that will get away from Utah.

Pick: Los Angeles Clippers

Sunday – Los Angeles Lakers @ Dallas Mavericks

The experts know that the Dallas Mavericks want to make a better showing in the second half of the season than it did in the first half, but the Los Angeles Lakers is on a mission. With all of the scrutiny that the Lakers has been under all season long, and now the passing of Dr. Jerry Buss, the Lakers has all of the motivation it needs to finish the season strong. Los Angeles was showing signs of improvement before the All-Star break, and now it gets a chance to keep that rolling in Dallas.

Pick: Los Angeles Lakers

Sunday – Boston Celtics @ Portland Trail Blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers is currently on the outside looking in when it comes to the Western Conference playoffs standings. If Portland wants to battle its way into the playoffs, then it will need to pretty much win out at home for the rest of this season. The Boston Celtics has been on quite a roll lately, but the Trail Blazers has been extremely strong at home. With the Celtics having problems on the road, this should be a game that Portland has confidence that it can win.

Pick: Portland Trail Blazers
