Yankees Really Need a Weekend Win

Written by Andrew Scofield

New York Yankees free picksThe New York Yankees are running out of time and chances to get back into the AL playoff race. As this week started, the best sports betting strstegies had the Yankees seven games out of first place in the AL East. The concern for Yankees fans comes from the fact that the Yankees continue to lose ground even as the first place Boston Red Sox struggle to win games. The beneficiary of all of this grief in Boston and New York is the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays are having a successful series against the Red Sox and get their chance at the Yankees over the weekend.

The sports betting strategies have also not forgotten about the Baltimore Orioles, who continue to win games and stay in the AL East playoff picture. This weekend has the AL East teams squaring off in contests that could help to shape the playoff direction of the entire division.

Saturday – Tampa Bay Rays @ New York Yankees

While there is still plenty of time left in the season for New York to make a run, the fans in the Bronx are getting a little concerned about their team. Alex Rodriguez is facing a lifetime suspension for his role in the steroids scandal, and Derek Jeter is on the injury list again with a pulled muscle. The sports book experts did not suspect that the Rays needed any help in being competitive with the Yankees, but New York definitely comes into this game with a long list of issues.

My Pick: Tampa Bay Rays

Saturday – Houston Astros @ Toronto Blue Jays

After the season that the Toronto Blue Jays have had, their fans do not take anything for granted anymore. When the Houston Astros come to town, most teams can usually chalk up a win or two before the games are even played. But the sports betting websites are not giving the Blue Jays that luxury, and for good reason. The Jays started this week nursing a six-game losing streak, while the Astros actually pulled off a win over the Oakland Athletics. This season cannot end soon enough for the Blue Jays and their fans.

My Pick: Houston Astros

Saturday – Boston Red Sox @ Baltimore Orioles

The Boston Red Sox had a rough time with the Tampa Bay Rays earlier in the week and things are not going to get easier when Boston heads down to Baltimore to take on the Orioles. The Red Sox are still trying to find someone to fill the starting pitching vacancy left by the injured Clay Buchholz, which is proving to not be an easy task. The Orioles had a 10-game stretch earlier in July that saw them rack up an 8-2 record. The Orioles are only three and a half games out of first place in the AL East standings, and the young Baltimore team can smell blood in the water.

My Pick: Baltimore Orioles
