The NL Central Just Keeps Getting Interesting As the Weekend Approaches

MLB bettingThe NL Central pennant race is something that everyone who has a stake in the 2013 World Series futures has been watching. It has been a three-horse race since the All-Star break and it looks like it will finish that way when September is over. When the week started, the St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates were locked in a dead heat for the pennant with the Cincinnati Reds only three and a half games behind. It looks like the two teams that will lose out on the NL Central pennant are probably going to be the two NL wild card teams, but the pennant is what these three teams are really fighting for this weekend.

Saturday – Los Angeles Dodgers @ Cincinnati Reds

The attitudes of the betting experts towards the Los Angeles Dodgers have changed a lot since the All-Star break ended. When the All-Star break started, the Dodgers were considered a disappointment and the NL West pennant was up for grabs. Ever since the All-Star break ended, the Dodgers are living up to their potential and running away with the NL West pennant. The Dodgers also play some pretty good ball on the road as well. The Reds have been slipping as of late and taking on the Dodgers in an important home series is not going to help the Reds’ confidence. The Reds will give it their best shot, but this weekend matchup belongs to the Dodgers.

My Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers bet at TopBet.eu.

Saturday – Pittsburgh Pirates @ St. Louis Cardinals

This series should decide the NL Central pennant. The last time these two teams played head to head, the Pirates won a controversial doubleheader and held onto the division lead for almost a month. Since there is less than a month remaining in the season, this series will provide one of the teams with the momentum it needs to secure the pennant. The Pirates always seem to play well against the Cardinals, regardless as to where the two teams play. The Pittsburgh pitching rotation has been giving a lot of teams fits this season, but it seems to be more effective against St. Louis than any other team. At this point in the MLB season, it is hard to ignore momentum. The Pirates have momentum and they know how to roll over the Cardinals in important games.

My Pick: Pittsburgh Pirates bet at TopBet.eu.

Saturday – Washington Nationals @ Miami Marlins

The resurgence of the Washington Nationals may be too little, too late. But that is not stopping the team from doing its best to make up the six and a half games that separate it from the NL wild card fight. The Nationals head to Miami to face a Marlins team that has the second lowest win total in all of baseball. Miami’s 50 wins are only second in futility to Houston’s 45. The Nationals have an opportunity to sweep a series in Miami and make up ground that it desperately needs to make up if it wants to win a playoff spot.

My Pick: Washington Nationals bet at TopBet.eu.
