Philadelphia Phillies vs. Detroit Tigers Picks – Saturday, July 27 The Philadelphia Phillies and Detroit Tigers don’t play each other very often, but when they meet this Saturday, they’ll produce one of the more attractive pitching duels of the season.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Detroit Tigers – Saturday, July 27

In an online casino, it is hard to know which numbers matter. When you look at a terrific pitching matchup, just how are you going to find an edge for one player and one team over and against the other?

Regardless of the pay per head sites you prefer, you will have to acknowledge that upon examining 5dimes.eu reviews for this one specific game, Detroit probably deserves the nod, albeit a narrow one. Philadelphia starting pitcher Cliff Lee and Detroit starter Max Scherzer are both top-tier pitchers with similar ERA numbers, but as you pry open their stories in 2013, you’ll see that Scherzer has been a little bit better in recent weeks… or perhaps, that Lee has been a little worse.

Lee’s ERA is 3.05 and Scherzer’s ERA is 3.14. There’s just not much differentiation there. Moreover, both starters – while able to eat lots of innings – have not allowed fewer than two runs on many occasions in their last 10 starts. The last time Scherzer allowed fewer than two runs in a game was June 17. Lee last allowed fewer than two runs on May 28. These are not overwhelming pieces of evidence in terms of arriving at a clear-cut conclusion.

Bettors would probably lean to the Tigers and Scherzer for this reason: Lee’s ERA on May 28 was 2.34. Lee’s ERA has steadily risen over the past month and a half, especially in his last three outings, in which he’s given up a total of 13 runs. Yes, Lee lost to white-hot Matt Harvey of the New York Mets in his most recent start, but the point remains that he was not terribly effective. Lee has been vulnerable to the home run in recent starts in a way that Scherzer hasn’t been. Scherzer’s ERA on May 31 was 3.42, so his ERA numbers are actually going in the opposite direction; he’s improving while Lee, perhaps burdened by a lack of run support and his high number of pressure-packed innings, is losing just a little bit of steam.

NFL betting experts with a fairly limited amount of baseball knowledge will probably say that the Tigers will not welcome the chance to face Lee, who was a powerful pitcher in the American League with the Texas Rangers. Yet, if one has to make a prediction on this game, the Tigers would merit an edge because they’re playing at home, where they’ve been solid this season and over the past few years. Philadelphia also has a more anemic offense than Detroit. The Phillies have been beset by injuries, and they also miss the bat of Jayson Werth, who is now a member of the Washington Nationals. All in all, Detroit should be the choice here.

My Pick: Detroit
