MLB Playoffs Betting: Cardinals, Giants Could Go Down To The Wire

MLB Playoffs Betting oddsThe St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants took the long way to the National League Championship Series, each going the distance in their respective NLDS. Based on what we have seen from these two teams so far, it wouldn’t be a surprise at all if these two teams went all the way down to the wire to determine which of them advances to the World Series. The Cardinals struck first with a 6-4 win to guarantee a chance to close out the series at home with three straight from games three through five, but after pulling even with a 7-1 home win in game two, the Giants clearly have other plans. Game five is set for this Friday at Busch Stadium, and it will be no sports betting surprise when San Francisco sends the series back home for game six on Sunday. Join Now to Bet on this Game!

Neither team will feel very comfortable with its pitching matchup heading in to game five, with Lance Lynn expected to get the call for St. Louis opposite Madison Bumgarner for San Francisco. Neither pitcher will have a long leash for game five, and the key could be which starter can provide the most work for his club.

MLB Betting Preview: San Francisco Giants

Bumgarner was on the hill for the Giants in a 6-4 loss to St. Louis in game one, lasting only 3.2 innings while getting tagged for six earned runs on eight hits. The 23-year old Bumgarner has lasted no longer than 4.1 innings in any of his two postseason starts, and that could push San Francisco to go with Barry Zito at the last minute. At the very least, Zito will be ready to make an appearance in extended relief, as the Giants look for the answer on the mound. The Giants have actually done a better job offensively on the road than at home so far in these playoffs, something manager Bruce Bochy will hope continues until this online betting series shifts back to the Bay area.

MLB Betting Preview: St. Louis Cardinals

The Cardinals didn’t get much more from Lynn in game one of the NLCS, as he gave up four earned runs in his 3.2 innings of work. Lynn has battled through a 8.59 ERA so far this postseason, and like Bumgarner, his team won’t hesitate to pull him off the mound if he struggles early. The good thing about St. Louis when Lynn starts is that they have had no trouble scoring runs, winning three of the four games that he has appeared in. The Cardinals’ offense has consistently come through in clutch situations dating back to last year’s World Series run, and that should be the case if St. Louis needs a Betonline win for game five.

MLB Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick

With a tossup in the pitching matchup, it only makes sense to go with the stronger offense, deeper bullpen, and home field advantage for game five. This game could play out much differently if San Francisco is on the verge of elimination, but look for the Cardinals to be in the driver seat if the series is sent back to the Bay area for game six.
