Toronto Blue Jays vs. Cincinnati Reds PicksAs we progress towards the midway mark of the online sports betting season, the Toronto Blue Jays and Cincinnati Reds both find themselves looking up in their respective divisions. Both cities have been desperate for a winner on the sports scene for years, and with this weekend series continuing on Saturday both teams will hope they can give their fans what they want for that one MLB game.

Great American Ball Park, Cincinnati, Ohio

MLB Betting
Odds: Cincinnati – 120

The Reds haven’t been able to keep up with the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers in the AL Central after winning the division a year ago.

Cincinnati has had no problem on offense where they have led the league in runs, but it is the defensive side of the ball where the team has really struggled with some mediocre pitching.

MLB Betting Preview: Toronto Blue Jays

The Blue Jays’ bats will look to take advantage of that pitching in Edinson Volquez’s second start since being called up from Triple-A. The Reds’ opening day starter has struggled with his command all season, and Toronto can really rattle him if they can get their bats going early. The Blue Jays will counter with a starter that has been just as inconsistent this season in Brandon Morrow, who is just 2-4 with a 5.63 ERA after showing so much potential the past couple of seasons. Jose Bautista continues to torch opposing pitchers for home runs, and is on pace to exceed the mark he led the league with a year ago. Bautista has gotten some help from Adam Lind, but Toronto will need more sports betting bonus hitters to step up.

MLB Betting Preview: Cincinnati Reds

Cincinnati has had no shortage of players that have stepped up to get the job done on offense, as they led the league in runs through their first 36 games with 338 runs, an average of more than five per game. Joey Votto continues to produce at a high level with Jay Bruce and Brandon Phillips helping him force the issue, but the Reds will need more consistent pitching to remain as a legitimate contender in a suddenly crowded division. Volquez looked good in a loss at San Francisco against the defending World Series champion Giants, but their pitiful offense can hardly serve as an accurate test of merit. The Cincinnati bullpen should be able to hold on if Volquez can get them to the seventh, and that shouldn’t be too much to ask at this point.

MLB Betting: Outlook & Pick

The Reds offense will get to Morrow early and make things difficult, while Toronto will have a tougher time responding with the interleague play rules. Volquez has shown flashes of consistency and this game represents the perfect opportunity to regain some of the coaching staffs trust, as the offense comes alive to give him a ton of sports betting run support early on.

BSN Sports Pick: Cincinnati Reds - 120
