Rarely a team is favorite off the label so early in the betting season as they are doing this year, the Boston Red Sox in Major League Baseball.
After being beaten by aggressive Rangers in the first round of the baseball betting season (they lost all three games and they scored 26 runs), the diagnosis was that they would be off, but are 16 games and nothing to wake up.
The Red Sox, who began the year as clear favorites to reach the World Series, have the worst ERA pitching in the majors, are placed last in their division and have not won a single game out of Fenway Park.
Of course I only played one tenth of the season and the gap with the Yankees, leading the AL East, is just four and a half games, something a good team could be traced with a solid month. But what is astonishing is how bad they are playing ball in Boston.

With the 2010 World Series set to get underway this Wednesday, the online sports betting attention shifts to baseball for the next two weeks, with the Texas Rangers and San Francisco Giants battling for the ultimate MLB betting respect. Whether it is the unique pitching match ups, the heroes that have emerged for both teams, or the way in which both teams have gotten to the finale, Major League Baseball’s championship series will feature a plethora of key storylines to follow.
First and foremost is the pitching, as arguably the two best pitchers in baseball betting lead their teams in to the World Series. San Francisco’s Tim Lincecum is the reigning Cy Young award winner, and first to take the trophy in each of his first two seasons in the league, so there is really no questioning where he ranks. Meanwhile for Texas, Cliff Lee ranks third on the all-time ERA list for pitchers that have made at least five starts in the postseason. Lee is 3-0 in these playoffs with a 0.75 ERA, pushing his record to 7-0 over the past two playoffs. Both pitchers will take center stage when the series opens on Wednesday, with the potential for a rematch in either game four or five depending on how the first week plays out.

When the playoffs started it seemed like the meeting between the Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Yankees in the World Series would be inevitable. So far both teams have gotten more than they bargained for in each series.
The Yankees are -108 favorites with a total of 9 at Bodog sportsbook.
In the American league the Texas Rangers jumped out to a 3-1 series lead. The Yankees were stifled by some timely Texas pitching led by their ace Cliff Lee. Lee has still yet to lose in the playoffs in his career and if the Yankees are to advance they will have to find a way to beat him.
The Rangers have been red hot at the plate and in every win in the series they have beaten the Yankees by at least five runs. The Yankees avoided elimination with a crucial game in game five, but they still have an uphill battle if they want to win the American League. In the National League, the Phillies find themselves in a 2-1 hole against the Giants after losing game three.
